Thought I would list this one more time before I consider taking the bike apart and selling the components and frame/fork separately on eBay, rather than as a complete bike in Oklahoma.
Here is your chance to step back in time to 1990! It was about this time that I remember (or as well as my memory works some 15 years later!) my then local bike shop, Mud Sweat & Gears in Lawton, getting some of the Serotta Davis Phinney bikes as a special order from Serotta. They were beautiful bikes and the racers loved them. These bikes were made by Serotta for Davis Phinney, who was a 7-Eleven pro and two-time Tour de France stage winner. They had a slightly longer top tube and steeper angles than traditional European bikes, but with virtually the same wheelbase, chain stay, and bottom bracket measurements. Phinney didn’t want his model to be dramatically different, but he did want to give riders an opportunity to have a flatter back and faster handling without losing the stability and comfort Serotta’s are known for.
This Serotta Davis Phinney measures 54cm c-c with a 55cm top tube. It is a striking blue and black combination, with the rear triangle and fork in bright blue and the front of the bike (head tube, top tube, and down tube) in black with blue cable housing. The frame is made of Columbus SLX tubing, which was near the top of the line for Columbus back then. The lugs are investment cast with a nice fastback seat tube lug…an expense that Serotta later moved away from with their later steel bikes…and it has two sets of water bottle bosses
This bike comes complete with all the components being DuraAce, including pedals, with the exception of a Shimano 600 front derailleur. The wheels are Matrix, the saddle a Selle Italia Titanium Gel, the stem 3T with Serotta engraved on it, and the handlebars Ritchey Pro.
This bike is in good condition and has been well-maintained, but it has been ridden and is a used bike. There are paint chips, especially along the top tube, a place on the left fork crown, and on the right chain stay from chain drop. There is also a tiny cosmetic ding (hard to see or feel and it is no factor in the integrity of the bike) on the right side of the top tube. These chips do not detract from the overall beauty of this bike…it really looks nice!
$550 for the complete bike. Several pictures are available, as are more details, so feel free to contact me.
No shipping of the complete bike...local pick-up only at this price.
Thanks,
