Lugged steel frames are becoming harder to find, especially frames this nice.
This classic and hard-to-find Ciocc Designer '84 Microf C. 40 lugged steel frame
and fork are in very good condition, and would make a wonderful addition to any
bike stable. Ciocc framesets have a reputation for being great riders and
wonderful craftsmanship, and this frame represents the Ciocc name with honor.
This frame measures 54cm from the center of the bottom bracket to the center of
the top tube, with a 54.5cm top tube and a 132mm headtube. The paint scheme is
blood red with bright white decals outlined in black. The rear seat and chain
stays and fork are chromed, and the top of the seat stay is scalloped. The frame
was built in Italy of legendary high-end Columbus SLX steel tubing, which over
the years has been my favorite tubeset of any I have ridden.
This Ciocc has two sets of water bottle bosses, braze-on front derailleur tab
and downtube shifter bosses and pump peg, rear brake cable housing routed on the
top of the top tube, and Campagnolo horizontal rear dropouts (with adjusting
screws) that measure 126mm wide. The Ciocc fork is chromed and has Campy
droputs, with a 1" threaded steerer that measures 172mm. The Ciocc design is cut
out of the bottom bracket shell and is engraved on the brake bridge and fork
crown. The Ciocc name is pantographed in the scalloped top of the seat stay and
on the sloping fork crown.
This bike is in very good condition, but it is a used bike that has been ridden.
There are very few small paint chips that have been well touched up. The chrome
is in good condition, with some very light peppering and loss of bright shine
just from age and from having been ridden. The seat tube is very clean and clear
and all of the tubes have been treated with Boeshield T9 rust prevention spray.
I haven't taken any pics of the Ciocc but hope to do so soon. $425 picked up in
McAlester.
Thanks,
Frank
