This is a one-of-a-kind 1984 vintage DeRosa Super Prestige frame and fork that
was a one-owner before I purchased it. He rode it as his "show bike" for ten
years before his wife began riding it until just recently when they got new
DeRosa's.
That original owner was a DeRosa bike dealer and he had this frame custom
painted just for him. The bike is a gloss black with pink panels on the downtube
and seattube with white DeRosa lettering outlined in black inside the panels. He
had this painted to match the colors of the winning jersey in the Giro d'Italia.
What an opportunity to own a true collector's item!
The frame measures 54cm from the center of the bottom bracket to the center of
the top tube, or 55cm from the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the
seat tube, with a 54.5cm top tube.
The seller indicated this frame was built with high-end Columbus SLX steel
tubing. The frame is fully lugged with the famous and revered DeRosa lugs. It
has a matching 1" threaded steel fork that has a beautiful chromed flat fork
crown and DeRosa dropouts. There is DeRosa pantographing on the top of the seat
stays and on the chromed flat fork crown. A decal on the top tube says "Trophee
Super Prestige 1974 1975 Eddy Merckx".
There is one set of water bottle bosses on the down tube, rear brake cable
housing is routed on the top of the top tube, frame has a braze-on front
derailleur tab and braze-on downtube shifter bosses and cable guides under the
bottom bracket shell. The horizontal rear dropouts (adjusting screws included)
are Campagnolo and measure 126mm wide. The bottom bracket is Italian and an
Italian bottom bracket spun in by hand.
The frame and fork are in very good condition with no dents or rust. There are
some paint scratches that have been touched up on this well-maintained and cared
for used bike, primarily from a dropped chain. The chrome is excellent with no
pitting or rust. The frame tubes have all been treated with Boeshield T9 rust
prevention spray.
As a bonus, the buyer gets:
Mavic Open Pro 32 spoke wheels on Campagnolo (not sure of model) hubs with
Campagnolo skewers. The wheels appear to be in good shape and spin nicely on the
Campy hubs. Also includes installed Vittoria Kevlar clincher tires. I would
replace the tires before too long if I were riding this wheelset.
A Campagnolo 13/23 9 speed cassette (not sure of model). The cassette looks very
clean and lightly used.
Pictures will be available tomorrow if the weather cooperates.
$495 for everything picked up in McAlester.
Thanks and have a safe and happy 4th!
