This Basso Loto was one of the high-end Basso frames in its day. The frame
measures 55cm from the center of the bottom bracket to the center of the top
tube (or 56cm to the top of the top tube) with a 55cm top tube.
The paint scheme is a green rear triangle with white front triangle and a green
headtube. The frame tubing decal shows Columbus TSX, bit I don't remember the
Loto's coming in that tubing. It is, however, a lugged steel frame with the
legendary Basso workmanship.
There is Basso engraving on the seattube lug and brake bridge. The rear brake
cable is routed at 7 o'clock on the top tube, there is a braze-on front
derailleur tab and downtube shifter bosses, a pump peg, and two sets of water
bottle bosses. The headtube measures 130mm and the rear dropouts are horizontal
and measure 128mm wide. The bottom bracket is Italian-threaded, and a Campy
bottom bracket spun right in by hand.
The rider previous to me rode this bike as is, but he has nicer bikes now and
sold this one. This frame definitely has its share (and maybe a couple of other
bikes' share) of paint chips and scratches and marks. There is also a very small
ding on the top tube that will not be a problem structurally. This is not a
pristine show bike, but would make a great rider for someone as a training bike
or even a single speed. Ride it as is or get it repainted cheap and have a shiny
bike.
$70 picked up in McAlester. Pics available later in the weekend.
