Hi, I'm Val. I am new to the group, but not new to gaited horses. I
live in Eastern Idaho (about 60 miles west of Jackson Hole, WY). My
goal is to get myself in shape, find a suitable horse, and eventually
ride the Tevis, probably seriously in 2010, although I would like to
come for the fun ride and offer my services as crew between now and
then. I welcome all advice and suggestions, smile, and look forward to
meeting you all some time.

-Hello Anne, I always need new riding partners. I am in Yelm with a
beautiful view of Mt. Rainier. I really like Capitol Forest, I
haven't ridden at Mt. Rainier yet, but plan to. I also want to
tackle the John Wayne trail! I have to wait a couple of months. I
am 3 months into a compound Leg FX...brakes my heart I can't ride, or
do ground work...or play with my 3 kids! I have been watching DVD's
on horse training, I should be a licensed trainer after all the
knowledge I am obtaining. Send me a picture of your horse and tell
me where you like to ride!

Hi Selene,

A saddle you may consider in a Sensation Hybrid.  It is a treeless saddle that works great for short backed low withered horses.  I just purchased one for my MFT and it is working well.

Where are you now located?  I am in the Seattle area  is you need an occasional riding partner.

Selena Ulch, Miss Rodeo America 2005, will be teaching a 2-day clinic
in Camas, Washington. The Northwest Rodeo Queen Clinic is designed to
assist current and aspiring queens on the preparation for a pageant,
and the fulfillment of a successful year. It will also provide
invaluable information to all those behind the scenes that make the
pageant and year full of appearances successful.

Rodeo and Equestrian Queen pageants require contestants to demonstrate
equine knowledge and horsemanship skills, as well as public speaking
skills and etiquette, to determine the best candidate to represent the
association. (Remember, these are NOT Beauty Pageants) This clinic
will touch on every aspect of a pageant, as well as recommendations for
court members to get the most out of this experience.

The clinic will be hosted May 20-21. Participant Space is limited, and
starting to fill up. For more information, email nwrqc@... for

What a great time for you to inquire! :-)

We have two (yes, TWO!) gaited teams forming as we speak. In order to point
you in the right direction, please fill me in on the following:

1) What's your geographic location? (SW Washington, NW WA, Eastern WA, N.
Idaho, S. Idaho (I-84 corridor), PDX Metro, Willamette Valley (south of Pdx
to Eugene), S. Oregon. E. Oregon)

2) What kind of gaited horses do you ride, and how many are eligible to ride
this season (over 4 yrs. of age, trained w/some trail experience)?

3) What are your goals for the season? (That can range from a beginner
wanting to learn as much as possible in a supportive environment to "old
timers" wanting to do 50's and top ten, etc.)
In order to give endurance a fair shake, we just ask that each rider try
to commit to 4 rides. We do pot-lucks after the rides, and focus on having
fun!

4) Once I know whereabouts you live, I can better identify good rides for
you to try and which team would be a great fit for you. Fill me in as soon
as possible, as the rosters are filling up!

I look forward to hearing back from you!

Thanks so much,

Tracey Kasten
