Just got back from the Redwood ride down on the California coast. I
bought Hunter in May - I suspect this 25 was about 12 miles farther than
he ever went before. His vet scores were pretty amazing, all A's with a B
for impulsion at the finish. Impulsion is always a problem with my horses
because I'm old and don't do a good job with trotting them out. He came in
10th of about 22 and showed me what we need to work on. The riding part
went fine, but his ground manners must have reverted to some earlier
behaviors. He was embarrassingly ill-mannered. He kept up all day with a
very nice Arab my daughter had borrowed.
