Hi,
Good work with the publicity. I would be great to meet up over a few beers.
The only weekend I am unavailable at the end of June/start of July is Friday
22nd June - Sunday 24th June. Can I suggest meeting on Friday 29th June or
Saturday 30th June? I don't mind which pub we meet in, I only live a mile
from Manchester City Centre so I'm not fussed.
Cheers,
Steve

Arrangements have been made to get more publicity for NW Iron in the
Evening Telegraph, on the official web site and on the Iron Union
site. Hopefully, this will boost numbers further. A further logo
design is in production and I am getting a skeleton constitution from
the Iron Union.
What about the vexed question of meeting up? I know that it is not
good for Cumbrian based fans, but Manchester city centre seems to be a
favoured venue. How about a Friday or Saturday evening towards the
end of June/beginning of July in a traditional city centre boozer. We
could formalise arrangements, finalise what we want to achieve, sort
out the constitution, set a modest subscription and bond over a few
beers. I suggest somewhere like The White Lion on Liverpool Road, the
Briton's Protection or The Knott would be good venues. All are close
to tram/train stops. What do you think?
All the best.

Alright guys and girls,
I have seen on the official website that the Winterton lot are making
headway in setting up their supprters club
http://www.scunthorpe-
united.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,10442~1026697,00.html
Just a quick reminder to everyone to fill in saleiron's questionnaire.
Cheers,
Steve
Thanx for mentioning this group otherwise i probably would never have
found it! Refreshing to see so many ironeers round these parts. My dad
(Manchester Iron) Would probably join this to! Up the NW Iron!
I have composed a short questionnaire to gauge what people want from a
NW Supporters' Club. You can download a copy by clicking on files on
the menu on the left of the page. Please return to me at the email
address on the document.
Cheers.
Andrew
I was wondering what everyone is doing on Saturday, is anyone staying
over in Blackpool? I'm getting the train (around 9am/10am) from
Salford Crescent Station Saturday morning with a couple of mates so we
can go for a kick around on the beach followed by fish n chips and a
few pints mmmmmmm.
I see there is a club Sanuk(?)where a lot of iron fans will be heading
for on Saturday evening so we will probably end up there.
Should be a good day. Although I don't have good memories of games at
Blackpool, especially last season's 5-2 defeat, it was bloody
freezing.
Cheers,
Steve
Hi,
I am planning on going back to Scunthorpe on the train from Manchester
Piccadilly on Saturday - I will be getting the 10.18am or 11.18am
train. I was wondering if anyone else is going to Scunthorpe on the
train? Hopefully (fingers crossed) we will be celebrating our
promotion after the game so I'm going to go for a few pints then back
to Manchester in the evening.
Cheers,
Steve
Up the iron!
Anyone going to be in the Lawyer before the game on Saturday? A
couple of us are likely to be in from 12.15.

New Yahoo! Mail is the ultimate force in competitive emailing. Find out more at the Yahoo! Mail Championships. Plus: play games and win prizes.
I have just checked through a few of the pub reviews, and a couple of them mention a "kid-friendly beer garden", although one does say that you have to be there early on match days in order to get into the garden (wouldn't have thought that was the case in the weather we have been having lately though!)

If the bus gets us there in time tomorrow or at Leyton Orient I will try and get to the pub and have a chat with the SULSESC lads. If not I will try and see Andy Skeels at the speedway, or failing that get an e-mail address for him.
When we were initially setting up the Iron Union I e-mailed Bernard at Irish Iron to find out how he started out, so I will try and dig out the reply he sent me then.
Once we have spoken to them and got clear what we are actually asking from the club, I think the way forward would be to speak to Jamie Hammond, as I think everything in this line would have to go through him for approval. I would be happy to do this, but if someone else would prefer to go along with me, or contact the club themselves I would be fine with that too. As soon as I find anything out I will post a message on here and you can decide how you want to play it.
Sorry, I
have forgotten, did any of you say you were planning on going to either Brighton or Orient? If so, maybe we could meet up somewhere, even inside the ground, and I could introduce you to some of the London lads, so you could chat to them yourselves.
Let me know what you all think

Thanks to whoever had this idea. I've always thought it a waste to
be driving to and from Scunny in a half empty car, and it's even
worse now that my kids have flown the nest (well, sort of). My spies
spotted at least a couple of cars flying flags on the M62 at the
weekend.
Living in S. Manchester, anywhere in the vicinity would be OK for
me. It's certainly the right time to be starting this. Hope it's
successfull.

I thought the_ref’s design was ok, I like the old unity crest.
The club are slow at responding to enquiries – and that’s if they even
bother responding at all. It might be worth while using Karen’s contacts
within the club to arrange something.
As for the meeting, Manchester or anywhere nearby is fine for me.

I was perhaps a bit presumptious in suggesting Manchester for a
meeting. How does that suit everyone? When is a good time? I am
happy to contact the club about recognition and what might be
needed. I am not going to Brighton, but any advice from SULSEC
would be welcome. Finally, what about badge design? I thought
the_ref's effort was a wind up, but NWIron doesn't think so. I can
ask someone I know in graphic design to have a go.

I actually live in Scunny (so I don't have a problem with home matches), but have relatives in Salford and Droylsden, so I spend a fair bit of time over there.
It probably means that I can't get to meetings or anything like that, due to family commitments ( basically they won't appreciate me going over there to visit them, then going out on my own!), but would be happy to meet up at away games if possible.

I think it’s a good idea to meet up sometime. Mulligans in Manchester has already been suggested, where is everyone based in the NW? I’m in Salford so Manchester is right on my doorstep. If someone wants to suggest a date for a meeting then we could see if people are willing to attend/can make it. It would be good to meet up with fellow iron fans from this area, it’s over run with Man Utd and Man City fans round here so it would
make a nice change.

Hi,
There has been countless times when I have driven back to Scunthorpe on my
own for home games. I would definitely be up for lift sharing – and I don’t
mind doing my fair share of driving either.
I think it’s a good idea to meet up sometime. Mulligans in Manchester has
already been suggested, where is everyone based in the NW? I’m in Salford so
Manchester is right on my doorstep. If someone wants to suggest a date for a
meeting then we could see if people are willing to attend/can make it. It
would be good to meet up with fellow iron fans from this area, it’s over run
with Man Utd and Man City fans round here so it would make a nice change.
Cheers,
Steve

Not getting to many games due to work commitments at the moment. Think a North West Supporters club is long overdue and a fantastic idea.
A meeting to discuss what we want to do/achieve etc is good too, if only to sink a few beers!! Any help from the other regional fan clubs (ireland, dragoniron, south east) would be great if only to avoid similar mistakes.
Hopefully by the summer I will have weekends free and be able to squeeze a few people in my car for the away trips and I suppose trips to GP too next season. It'd be a lot cheaper than train, if we all just share the petrol costs.
Hi guys (and girls),
I’m going to the Orient game but I am travelling back to Scunthorpe on the
Friday night and getting a lift with some friends to Orient on the Saturday.
I’m giving Brighton a miss (lack of funds).
I have given up on long distance train journeys because they were costing me
a small fortune (and that’s with a student rail card), does anyone know how
to/if it’s possible to get cheap train fares?
I would be up for meeting in Mulligans in Manchester - is it on Deansgate?
I see there are 10 people signed up so far to this Yahoo group, that’s good
going.
Cheers,
Steve (aka gauche)

Just a thought, but why not try and meet up with the SULSESC lot and
get some advice off them? I know where they are meeting up before
the Brighton game, and I can soon find out for the Orient game too
if you wanted to chat to them.

Anyone going to the Orient game? A couple of us getting a train about
8.15 from Manchester. Also, what about an initial meeting to discuss
approaching the club to gain recognition? Mulligans in Manchester
city centre seems a fitting location. Any thoughts?
