Kauai in general is absolutely beautiful! I learned to Scubadive on Poipu beach when I was in Highschool..
.but other than that I dont think its known for its great waves. I am always partial to staying in a beach house rather than a resort! Some great ideas can be found at vrbo.com and also vacationhosts. com (they have good pictures).
I think you should be able to find some bodysurfing on any island depending on what month you are goin. The north shore of Oahu has some spots, I used to see guys on the side of the road near "Velzyland" with nothin but their bodies cutting through a field to get to the break. And there are some cool little beach houses up there as well.
Hope that helps! On Fri, Apr 3, 2009 at 12:30 PM, Janet Kornblum <jkornblum@gmail.com >wrote:Kauai. . there are some great bodyboarding beaches (poipu itself isn't the best but you can drive to them). but of course, it also depends on the season. . cheers - janet

My husband and I want to celebrate our 10th anniversary for 4 days in HI. We've been to Waikiki and want to go somewhere new to beat the massive crowds and have more of a small-town experience. We are bodyboarders and ideally want to stay near a fun, mellow break. I am looking into Poipu on Kauai, but we are open to your suggestions for waves and accommodations.
Thanks
