try Costa Azul, in San Pancho, just 5 minutes north of Sayulita. right on the beach, "all-inclusive" surf resort with a kids camp. Definitely not the Ritz, but the prices really reflect it. They specialize in surf tours, but there's horseback riding, kayaking and snorkeling trips as well. I cannot stress how mellow it is. When we were there we ran into a lot of Bay Area families. The only bummer is that the resort itself is not a good surf beach-it's kind of gnarly surf wise. But it's a beautiful stretch of white sand for playing/exploring and they are prepared to take you wherevere you want to go. We surfed at sayulita, Punta Burros, took a boat to a secluded surf break-wherever.The booming surf is in the summer but we were there in February and it was just LOVELY. the weather was perfect and the surf was just fine for me (I'm
semi-beginner---surfing for 3 years, with 2 kids whenever I can get away from mombligations)

Hi everyone,
Happy New Year! I was wondering if anyone knew of any good places to stay in the Sayulita area or someplace similar, in Mexico, for my husband and I and our daughter who will be around one year old when we take our trip. We are beginner surfers and are looking to rent a house or stay at a low-key cabina-type place with some amenities such as a pool. Obviously a place good for families, and near a beginner surf break. We mostly want to lounge around, swim, surf and play in the sand. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, what time of year is best to visit this area, or is it pretty much year round?
