Hi George - this isn't so much about rating catcher defense related to
stolen bases and caught stealing, which I presume is a simple enough metric
(CS/CS+SB)... This is a link to the presentation which won The Doug Pappas
Award last year at SABR36 in Seattle. Who knew that this could be measured?

I do think that several factors go into a catcher's reputation of having a strong arm. One of which is the pitching staff-- are they good at holding on base...
