catcher's arms?   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #40 of 76 |
Hey SABR-folk,

Could someone tell me the names of some catchers who
are known for having good arms? That is being good at
throwing out base-stealers?

Also, the flip side, could you tell me the names of
some who were notoriously bad at throwing out runners?

Me and my good friend Rick Shubb (yes, he's the
world-famous bluegrass musician) are hooked on a
baseball management game & the ratings for the
catcher's arms in the data base seem way off.

If anyone's got a neat little formula for figuring
this out, boy, that would be cool.

Thanks Much,
George the New Guy

I do think that several factors go into a catcher's reputation of having a strong arm. One of which is the pitching staff-- are they good at holding on base...

Hey Charles, Thanks for the input. Indeed, guys not daring to run on certain catchers/outfielders sure makes arms hard to figure. Fun anyway, tho'. :) God...
