Notes:
"Slick Diddy" Ric Converse held onto the AWA Mid-Atlantic
Heavyweight Championship, as well as his ranking as the #1 Contender
to the AWA World Heavyweight Title with his pinfall victory over
former AWA World Hwt. Champion "King of Old School" Steve Corino.
The bout was originally scheduled to be for the AWA World Title,
however Corino was dethroned last week in Tokyo, Japan by Shinjiro
Ohtani. Corino insisted that the match with Converse take place as
scheduled, but with Converse's Mid-Atlantic Title on the line
instead.
Mitch Connor continues his claims that he is the rightful AWA Mid-
Atlantic Television Champion. Connor again played video footage
showing that the fatal three count that cost him the title to Rob
McBride actually occured just after the 10-minute time limit
expired. In McBride's title defense against Quinson Valentino, the
time limted expired just in time to save McBride from being pinned.
However McBride stated he didn't want to be like Connor and keep the
title with a time limit draw. He instead demanded the time limit be
extended and was able to score a pinfall to retain the title in the
overtime.
International competitor Ricky Reyes returns to CWF Mid-Atlantic
next week! Reyes has wrestled for AWA Zero-1-MAX, CMLL, ROH, PWG, as
well as fightning out of Inoki's New Japan Dojo in California. Reyes
will face Jesse Ortega in a rematch from the AWA World Light Hwt.
Tournament. Ortega claims that he is even more prepared to take on
the world class athlete while Reyes has stated that he intends on
knocking Ortega out cold in the middle of the ring... again!
CWF Mid Atlantic returns to action on Saturday February 4th at
Burlington NC's Carolina Sports Arena!
