wow...! first rate... i just watched it all and, at a couple points,
particularly when he was talking about prisoner abuse, i found myself

p.s. here's the link to my post...

the ft already has the transcript...

The FT of London is on the story. They have posted a transcript.

The tone in this guy's voice is so sincere and it sounds like he's
trying to hold back tears. He's putting his cred on the line and
probably banking on the Republicans not
fighting back as hard since they're so embroiled with problems right
now...

Thank you for the video of Col. Wilkerson, I read part of the
transcript on

but aside from mentioning that the cell phone call went on a long
time because someone asked him about Detainees (Tortured prisoners)
most of the section quoted is about bushco incompetence and treason.

Cheney 'cabal' hijacked US foreign policy
Submitted by davidswanson on Thu, 2005-10-20 07:39. Media

Vice-President Dick Cheney and a handful of others had hijacked the
government's foreign policy apparatus, deciding in secret to carry
out policies that had left the US weaker and more isolated in the
world, the top aide to former Secretary of State Colin Powell claimed
on Wednesday.

In a scathing attack on the record of President George W. Bush,
Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson, chief of staff to Mr Powell until last
January, said: "What I saw was a cabal between the vice-president of
the United States, Richard Cheney, and the secretary of defense,
Donald Rumsfeld, on critical issues that made decisions that the
bureaucracy did not know were being made....

~Read George Packer's book The Assassin's [inaudible] if you haven't
already. George Packer, a New Yorker, reporter for The New Yorker,
has got it right. I just finished it and I usually put marginalia in
a book but, let me tell you, I had to get extra pages to write on.

And I wish, I wish I had been able to help George Packer write that
book. In some places I could have given him a hell of a lot more
specifics than he's got. But if you want to read how the Cheney
Rumsfeld cabal flummoxed the process, read that book. And, of course,
there are other names in there, Under Secretary of Defense Douglas
[inaudible], whom most of you probably know Tommy Frank said was
stupidest blankety blank man in the world. He was. Let me testify to
that. He was. Seldom in my life have I met a dumber man.

And yet, and yet, after the Secretary of State agrees to a $400
billion department, rather than a $30 billion department, having
control, at least in the immediate post-war period in Iraq, this man
is put in charge. Not only is he put in charge, he is given carte
blanche to tell the State Department to go screw themselves in a
closet somewhere. That's not making excuses for the State Department.

That's telling you how decisions were made and telling you how things
got accomplished. Read George's book. In so many ways I wanted to
believe for 4 years that what I was seeing, as an academic, what I
was seeing was an extremely weak national security [inaudible]. And
an extremely powerful Vice President and an extremely powerful in the
issues that impacted him, Secretary of Defense, remember a Vice
President who's been Secretary of Defense, too, and obviously has an
inclination that way and also has known the Secretary of Defense for
a long time, and also is a member of what Dwight Eisenhower wanted
that God bless Eisenhower in 1961 in his farewell address the
military industrial complex and don't you think they aren't the
[inaudible] today in a concentration of power that is just
unparalleled. It all happened because of the end of the Cold War.

[inaudible] tell you how many contractors who did billion dollars or
so business with the Defense Department that we have in 1988 and how
many do we have now. And they're always working together. If one of
them is the lead on the satellite program, I hope there's some
Lockheed and Grumman and others here today [inaudible] if one of
them's a lead on satellites, the others are subs. And they've learned
their lesson there in every state.

They've got every Congressman, every Senator, they got it covered.
Now, it's not to say that they aren't smart businessmen. They are,
and women. They are. But it's something we should be looking at,
something we should be looking at. So you've got this collegiality
there between the Secretary of Defense and the Vice President. And
then you've got a President who is not versed in international
relations. And not too much interested in them either.

And so it's not too difficult to make decisions in this, what I call
Oval Office cabal, and decisions often that are the opposite of what
you thought were made in the formal process. Now, let's get back to
Dr. [inaudible]. For so long I said, yeah, Rich, you're right. Rich
being Under Secretary of State Richard [inaudible]. It is a
dysfunctional process. And to myself I said, okay, put on your
academic hat. Who's causing this? Well, the national security
advisor. Even if the framers didn't envision that position, even if
it's not subject to confirmation by the Senate, the national security
advisor should be doing a better job. Now, I've come to a different
conclusion."

Former State Dept Chief of Staff Lawrence Wilkerson puts the cards on
the table an absolutely riveting video clip courtesy of steve
clemons, from a speech given today, in which larry wilkerson talks
about the "Secretive Cabal Running American Foreign Policy" that
is "Undermining American Democracy..." wilkerson's speech comprises
approximately the first 45 minutes of the hour and a half video...

EXTREMELY worthwhile, not only for the perspective on foreign policy
decision-making but also for the perspective on prisoner abuse...

~~You can find stills of the burning of the Taliban on my site at

http://www.livejournal.com/users/insomnia/ 623843.html.

(Warning Graphic Violence) Please don't hotlink to the pictures, but
feel free to distribute and use freely.

~~I'm ex-military, army, infantry. If either of you pea-brains would
like to have an intelligent discussion about honor, dignity, and
service to your country, then ...and I will educate you as in-depth
as you wish.

Now, in regard to the video, I saw it. I was able to access it before
it was pulled from the site. The 27 minute story is the most
disturbing thing that I have seen. I can tell you that NOTHING like
that would have happened in my unit, not as long as I had a weapon.
My oath, which I still believe in, is to protect my country from its
enemies, foreign and domestic.

The United States of America that I belong to, that I've served, and
that I will protect does NOT torture, does NOT engage in illegal
wars, does NOT blindly follow criminals. Perhaps your Amerika does,
and you deserve everything that you will get.

~~ALLEGEDLY?? I have just seen the footage on Australian television.
It was shot by an Australian freelance cameraman embedded with the US
forces in Afghanistan. The footage was part of a greater story. A
story which basically shows that the US forces thinks all Afghanis
(insert Iraqi or any other Arab Muslim where relevant) are dirty
ragheads and guilty or innocent they treat civilians like sh*t.

The other dirty little secret is that the USA's great ally in
Afghanistan, Pakistan, has no interest in a stable Afghanistan and is
actively supplying the Taliban with weapons. Evidence of this was
presented and the US forces know it, although because it is
politically so sensitive, they cannot admit it.

~~Nice reply Bear...NOT..How many years does your LOSER president
need to get body armor to his troops...2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,100 years???
Families are still buying armor for their loved ones....You need
armor for that brain of yours...too much radio talk going to your
head...QUIT blaming Clinton for everything you Hannity lovin,
Rush LIMPBALLS lovinn whiner...

~~Orlando Weekly has a well-written interview with the attorney for
the man who ran the website that posted the US soldiers' pictures of
Iraqis. It paints a very Orwellian picture of the Polk County,
Florida's Sheriff' Office.

See:

http://www.orlandoweekly.com/fea...ory.asp? id=8406

It's titled:

GORE? OK. SEX? NO WAY
Polk County arrests porn-for-gore website operator Chris Wilson. We
talk with his lawyer

~~ Take heart, guys. There'll be plenty of emlisted scapegoats
that'll pay for this atrocity.

~~latest scandal by the bush Regime.

I agree about the bloody hands of the CIA. The torture at Abu Ghraib
and Gitmo as well as the hundreds of torture chambers around the
world run by US tax dollars and the negotiations for these particular
torture chambers being build was negotiated by Cheney with
Halliburton Brown and Root beginning in 2000, before 911.

Go to the 1977 MK-ULTRA Senate Hearings online to find out that
American and Canadian children and others have had this torture and
other horrific human experimentations performed to create Manchurian
Candidates and sex slaves. The caging, being led on a leash and made
to act like a dog, the electrodes delivering shocks sodomizing
children for decades has been paid for by US tax money.

One Canadian victim successfully sued the CIA and the Canadian
government both of whom supplied the money for the torture at Allen
Memorial Hospital.

Read the evidence yourself http://www.raven1.net/grenbaum.htm

The Greenbaum Speech was given before the American Psychiatric
Association by Dr. Hammond

Raven1.net has a lot of testimony from the MK-ULTRA victims and the
psychiatrist who believe them and who have heard the same things when
they compare notes at National Conferences of the same things being
done to patients in different parts of America and Canada.

This is Mengele-type human experimentation and horrific torture being
done to Americans for decades, the CIA run School of the Americas
trained agents to train thugs in Central and South America in torture
techniques for decades to turn their people into slaves and to steal
their resources as we are now doing in Iraq.

I thank the people on After Downing Street for providing this
information and a way we can all act in concert to bring down the
Criminal Bush Family and their supporters.

~you really oughta go look at the video clip steve clemons put up
with larry wilkerson's speech today... it's awesome, not only on the
nominal subject of the speech, but particularly on the subject of
prisoner torture... give it a gander...
