> Any B riders still interested? I don't climb well enough to stay with the fast
group.
Jim,
At about what pace do you think you will do? I would say there are at least 3
major paces. 20, 18, and 16. All of these paces get you back by dark. 16 is
an
easy B pace. A solid B rider should be able to maintain this pace for the
entire
ride. The 18 pace would be for any B+ riders, or A riders the first time. It
takes a
lot of training to get to the 20 pace, but 18 is very doable with a good group
and
some strong B+/A riders.
Also, 15 or 17 are possible paces. At 15, you need to keep the stops short and
to
the point. 17 is another good pace, as the route is mostly flat and very doable
even if you don't ride at that pace in Westchester.
Our 125 yesterday was a good example of a typical hilly Westchester ride. We
averaged 17.9, but this was largely the same group that has done 19.9 on the
double in years past.
You will be able to keep a higher pace than you might think. Now is the time to
post if you think you want to ride, but not keep up with the fast group.
