Well, here we are in the middle of ski season, and it's time to start
thinking about dates for the double century again. Double Century you
say, but it is only January, and the double is not till June! It must
be way too early to start thinking about the double.
But, alas, it is not too early to think about the double. The
deadline for the February Plain Spoken issue is just days away, and
before you know it, March rolls around with the spring slush skiing,
and road riding is just around the corner.
Last year I think the 75 mile ride worked out well, so I will be doing
that again. The target date for the double would be Sunday June 19th.
The rain date would be the 26th. Last year I thought the Saturday
rides were a bit too much and I would prefer to do all the training
rides on Sunday. Sunday is much better for me, but that would depend
on the rest of the group. If you would like some Saturday training
rides, please respond to this email and state your preferences.
The proposed schedule:
May 15th 75 miles
May 22nd Bloomin' Metric
May 29th Memorial Day weekend, no rides
June 5th Century
June 12th Double Metric
June 19th Double Century
June 24th rain date
This year will be the first in recent memory that the Greenwich Kennel
Club dog show does not happen on the day of the 125 mile ride. This
year they will be in Norwalk on the day of our 125. Good riddens!
Let me know what you think. I would like to come to a consensus by
Friday.
