Well, I'm not so sure how strong I am or if I can pull it off but I am sure
your plan is a lot more sensible than mine! Are you following a regular
triathlon taper even though you are doing only the bike leg? I ask because
I have the impression that professional bike racers don't normally taper
whereas pro triathletes do. Maybe it's just that my impression is wrong
about cyclists but I've often wondered why there is this difference in
approach. Maybe someone on this list who knows something about bike racing
could comment?
In any case best of luck in the Tinman to you too and have fun!

John, you must be a really strong cyclist to pull this off. I have done a
couple of centuries, but never 200, and I don't think this would be the
best
time for me to start. Since I am only doing the bike leg of the race, I
would really like to make it my strongest bike ride ever, and am very
focused
on that. I would like to do the double sometime, though. I am not the
fastest rider, but I do well toughing it out over the long haul. I really
will keep it in mind for next year. Good luck to you - and all the rest
of
you too. Have a great ride.
