Sure, the ride is as flat as one can make a 200 mile ride around here and
still have a nice ride.
The first part of the ride goes up rt 128 in Armonk, then 117, and finally rt
22 for a long distance. There are many small climbs, but mostly little
stuff, with no really long hills. As we get further north, we hit some longer
climbs, but nothing that I would say are real busters. Nothing longer than
a 1/2 mile or so, and even then, not a steep grade by any stretch.
Once we start turning back, it is more downhill than up. Rt 7 coming
south is a real cruiser. The real climbing starts at 150 miles, and really it
is not bad, but your legs have 150 miles on them and don't feel like doing
hills. The worst is 311 coming out of Pawling. About a mile of a long
climb, and not steep, but more so than some of the other climbs.
I would say that hills, while there are some, are not the major feature of
the ride. If you did any of this ride as a normal ride, you would not
consider it hilly, but more flat to rolling with a few climbs here and there.
Definitely not like a hilly Westchester ride.

... elevations? Sure Hank. When you finish this ride, you'll be on a real high ;-) Using nothing other than my sense of elevation gain, I'll estimate an ...

thanks, Nate, that's encouraging since I infer that the 200 is less hilly and since I've never done 200, this info makes it a bit less daunting. Look forward...
