Kick off your spring training in Mexico with warm weather, culture, adventure, training, and fun. Frontier Adventure Sports and Esprit Whitewater offer two week-long, all-inclusive adventure sports training camps this March in the coastal mountains near Veracruz, Mexico.

The Jalcomulco AR Training Camp (March 6-13) is a week of training and certifications in everything for adventure racing – biking, trekking, navigation, ropes, paddling, nutrition, teamwork and more. We'll discover the charms and culture of the idyllic village of Jalcomulco. Plus, an 8 hour race to cap off a week of training in canyons, whitewater rivers, plateaus and mango plantations.

The Pico2Playa Expedition Training Week (March 13-20) simulates an expedition race experience, as participants trek, mountain bike, paddle, swim, hike canyons, and learn ropes skills, from 4300m elevation on Pico Orizaba through remote, wild terrain to the beaches of Veracruz. Nightly stops at camps and haciendas allow us to experience local culture, food, and history.

Instructors have included internationally competitive adventure racers, trainers and course designers Bob Miller (Team Supplierpipeline) and Lawrence Foster (Team Holofibre), top female racer Trish Westman, Race Director Geoff Langford (Raid the North Extreme), and Esprit's highly skilled ropes, paddling and first aid instructors.

Visit www.camp-frontier.com for details, event dossiers and registration. Act fast – we're limited to 16 participants/week.

Check out our Facebook group for alumni experiences, photos and video:

Hope you can join us!

There is a really important meeting tomorrow.  If you are at all concerned about biking on Staten Island, you MUST come to this meeting (and one more that is yet to be planned for just us!  Details TBA)...  This is not just about bikes though.

This is about ANYTHING you want to see done on the Northshore of Staten Island.  So PLEASE FORWARD THIS to anyone else you know who might be interested.

Thursday, November 12th
Registration: 6:00 p.m.
Meeting Start: 6:30 p.m.
Snug Harbor, Building G, Room 201
1000 Richmond Terrace

Here's the webpage about the project.
http://www.nycedc.com/NewsPublications/Studies/StatenIslandNorthShoreStudy/Pages/StatenIslandNorthShoreLandUseandTransportationStudy.aspx

The way a friend of mine put it, "They have the money, they just need us to tell them how we want them to spend it."

I went to the meeting on Monday and I was totally outnumbered by old people who will never ride their bike and are worried that bike lanes will "impede traffic" and by representatives from city agencies.  There were very few RESIDENTS of the Northshore!

PLEASE COME to this meeting so we can show them that there are many Staten Islanders who WANT BIKE LANES!

It really wouldn't take too much to make an impact.  If even half of the people I know on SI who ride bikes showed up it would be HUGE!

Bikes Rule!
Betsy

not your computer.  worst coverage I have ever experienced.  sleepmonsters has a few more posts you can read, but you still have no idea where any one team is with respect to the leaders due to the rogaine style.

I thought I saw the sport ident box in one of the photos of a control flag.  if that is the case then they should be able to download them at any TA and confirm cp's visited, split times etc immediately.  upload to the website is a no brainer.

So is it my computer, or is the Live Website for AR Worlds absolutely atrocious? I can't get it to do much of anything. I'm dying to find out how NYARA and Berlin Bike/Hurley Metal Fab., ATP/Salomon are doing!! Anybody have a clue? Please update me if you know.

Thanks

The live coverage isn't working so well but another option is to follow on Twitter which has frequent updates: http://twitter.com/arwc2009nony
