things: our rockin' community + map & compass work + great locally
roasted coffee + killer local pizza + a multitude fresh air
training/play options. I can't imagine a better way to celebrate my

What exactly is the MMC? It is an AR-Ogaine where soloists teams of 2
to 4 participants will explore the natural beauty of the Mill Mountain
area as well as the namesake feature of the Star City - the Roanoke Star.
For newcomers and experienced navigators alike, an Odyssey AR-Ogaine
is a race in which competitors travel on foot across the course,
orienteering with map and compass from checkpoint to checkpoint. The
AR-Ogaine is effectively an orienteering course that would be seen in
an adventure race where teams plot UTMs for each of the locations of
the checkpoints on the map. Each checkpoint has a point value.
The 8 hr course will have teams and soloists plotting checkpoints
themselves.
The 4 hr course participants will be given the points to copy over
onto their maps.
A compass, a good pair of shoes, a backpack with food and water, and
the desire to enjoy the great outdoors are the basic necessities for a
fun day at this family-friendly OAR event!
