Hi Carole, we are ok! We left early. So sorry we missed you. Would of loved to say hi and chat.
My mare was really a wreck. When I got her 2 years ago, she couldn't handle chaos, crowds of horses and would SHAKE and come out of her skin at any opportunity. I put a lot of training, confidence and trust in her. She has a very high brio and used to jump out of her skin every time I rode her. Lucky for her we connected and I am good with these type of horses. It has been a long uphill climb but we got there. She has done endurance and has learned it is ok to be behind other horses, around other horses, ride in a drill team and attend crowded trail rides and handle all the chaos of endurance rides. I have exposed her to many new, scary experiences and she has come a LONG way. It has been really nice to see her gain confidence and handle them well. I had thought she could do well showing as I had gotten her really prepared for it. Unfortunately the show put her back to a place I had not seen in 2 years. The loud speakers, bright light in her stall all night and close quarters with horses just make her a wreck again. Have NOT seen her body shake in a long time and each time in the ring got worse and worse. I absolutely love and adore this mare and completely "get" her personality. Most horses could work thru this and get better with each horse show but I felt she was completely miserable. The look on her face broke my heart. I could not do this to my much loved mare. On the trail, she is extremely confident and in the last 2 years has actually gotten to a place of calm and happy. She is still very high brio and forward but the shaking and nervousness has disappeared with tons of work the last 2 years. To put her back to where she used to be is not what I can do in my heart. She did well in the ribbons and looked very pretty in the ring. Most would say to try again but NO it would break my heart to see her like that again. Many of you have seen the tattoo of Ginger on my arm. I love this little tough mare. Wish showing could of worked for her but she'll go back to wilderness riding where she is very happy.
Carole--you coming to Keenes?

Does anybody know what happened to Karla. I went to watch the gaited show on Sat.. I did not get there until 2:00 and Karla was gone. No one there knew why or what happened. She had gotten a ribbon in a class. Did she or the girls or the horse have an accident or get sick? I hope everything is OK.
