Thanks Sandy for helping to round out a vauge outline.  I am trying to get some of the gals around here to go with me to the show in Eugene on the 11th and 12th of Nov. so we can get a good handle on what is going onThe judging is the thing that has me stymied so far as we need quite a few. 

Yes I would love to do a series on it as I find out I will keep all informed.  Anyone who is close to Eugene or wants to do a fun horse time let me know and we will try to do a meeting during the event and hash out some ideas!!! 

 I'm so glad to get some good response and ideas.  The Paso award would be a real incentitive I think!!  Hope others can come up with some great ideas also!!!!  Pat B

Now I see where you were going with your suggestion for a way to raise funds.  I agree with you, it would be a great way to raise money doing something that we all like to do.  And it's even better if we invite all breeds to the event.  And it's something that we can do in several areas and develop a circuit for our region and utilize others events for some of the areas.

 

Are you familiar with the Trail competition that is held in Baker City, OR area?  They started it up last year, or maybe the one before,  but it has been a big hit.  I know one of the gals that runs it.  Dee Myers competed in it and said they did a nice job. 

 

Maybe the region could sponsor an award at those events for any paso finos who compete.  That way we don't have to do all the work to host the events.  And That way we can encourage the pasos to attend other people's events too, and start being recognized as great trail horses.  Maybe an award for something at the show, but also points that go toward a year end award from the region.  I will talk to some potential sponsors and see if I can round up some equipment or a saddle or something really nice for a year end award.

 

You know, I'll be we might be able to get the Birts, that have the Birt arena to eventually put in a trail course.  I'll volunteer my time to help them get it going.  I'll ask them if it might be in their plans. 

 

Pat, would you consider starting to do a monthly article for the newsletter that explains these competitions and the rules.  Little bit at a time we can get the info out to our members and others who are interested.  I'll bet it will help attract new members.  If we do one or so pages at a time, it will be something people can print out and put in a notebook.  Or we can sell copies of the rule books for what it costs to print and ship it.  But I think it would still be nice to have articles on the whys and wherefores of these events.

 

As any of you read this, what kinds of ideas do you have and what would you like to see at these events?  Have any of you been to these events so that you can share your experiences with all of us?
