In June 2008 a photography company called Virtually There Photography took pictures at the Nokesville Horse Society Western Show. They are located in Jennings, Florida and travel around in a conversion van.I purchased pictures on a CD of my husband showing one of our horses. In February 2009 I finally received a CD but it was pictures of me not my husband.I have called them and emailed them many times about this, asking for the correct CD or a refund. They have never been in touch with me.My last message to them was to advise them I would be warning all the horse associations in Virginia of their practices and they still did not reply. If you see them at any of your shows, I would strongly advise you do not use their service. For your information their names are Ford and Bambi Bond and their website is http://computer-doc.net.

I have a 17" western saddle for sale. It's very used and I am in no longer need
of it. I imagine that whoever buys this saddle would use it for trails, or arena
work. It would not be good for shows because of how used it is. I'm selling it
for $70 but it is negotiable. Feel free to contact me at (703)794-9732 or my
e-mail address is orionsstarz@.... Thank you and have a great day!
I know this is a little off topic, but does anyone need any tree removal or yard
work done. My husband can come by and give you a free estimate for just about
anything that needs to be done. If you have difficult trees to come down he can
have climbers come in and assist. He can also grind stumps, top trees, spray
and fertilize, landscape, weed and mulch. He also can deliver mulch and
firewood.
Please give him a call to discuss any services you might need.

Thanks
First of all, I am totally overwhelmed by the generousity of Phil Layton, who lives adjacent to Bristoe Historic Battlefield Park in Bristow Virginia. Since the Park and Historical society moved so slowly in giving us approval for the show, the front pasture won't be ready to use on Saturday, so Phil has offered us the use of his fenced in horse pasture that is quite large. It is large enough that we are going to cut a grass ring in it. Since I heard from a single person and I'm sure there were others, that the lack of a fenced-in ring was a concern for them, this should put their minds at ease. It is much smoother than the hay pasture and that's also a plus.
We will be working in the weeks to come at keeping the park's pasture from the road to almost the graveyard mowed so that it will smooth out over time.
Now, it is a privledge to be allowed to use this very beautiful park, and I want to take utmost care of it, especially the first time using it. As you know that it has just been the wettest spring and summer in years. The ground is pretty satuated. If it doesn't rain tonight, the show will go on. If it rains tonight, we will cancel to protect the park. Don't think we can move the show back to Nokesville park either as the deep sandy ring is soup at this point and extremely unsuitable for carriages.
Please check your email or the Nokesville Horse Society's website before you leave home. I will be taking calls tonight after 8pm, but I will be out early in the morning. My cell phone number is: 571-379-6351.
After I get back from vacation at the end of the month, I hope to plan some informal trail drives with a bring-a-dish-to-share lunch to show you drivers out there what a nice park it is for driving.

I hope you all saw Martha's email about the Park. Dianna is right, it
does look like a private residence....there are no signs indicating it
is the Heritage Park and the entrance to the field looks like you are
pulling in between someone's house and an old barn.
But the big white house (now empty) is part of the Park and is going
to be renovated and turned into a Mounted Police Academy (or something
like that).
The entrance to the area where we will be showing is 3/4 of a mile
down Bristow Road from the turn off Hwy 28. The park entrance is
immediately in front of the RRCrossing sign. If you get to the RR
tracks, you've gone too far....but if you look over your right
shoulder, you'll see the field!
If it doesn't rain (fingers crossed!) and the show goes on, you'll see
the NHS trailer and the NHS volunteers.
Hope to see everyone there!

----- End message from brigadoonfarm@... -----
It is a beautiful Park that is way under utilized. The Historical Society is thrilled that we are going to hold our carriage driving events there. Eventually we would like to have a stone dust parking lot at the entrance right before the train tracks. There is no facilities. So if you don't like porta potties, oh well. The guy "Phil" who lives on the edge of the park is generously offering us the use of his hose for water for this event.
Cleve Benton has once again volunteered and mowed the front pasture that we are going to use. At first we will improvise the ring by using either PVC pipe or jump standards to form corners. We can't put a permanent driving ring with fences b/c it is a battlefield and there is reenactors that also uses the park.
It is a lovely place with wide stone dust trails in this 300 acre park - perfect for carriage driving. The park plans to put in more. Phil has generously offered to mow more trails for us if we promise to use the park. I'm very excited about this place. I drove around the park with my 4-in-hand of minis and I'm thrilled with the quality of the trails for carriage driving. Finally, us carriage drivers have a peaceful park of our own. The only set back is that the train tracks are not that far away and the horses may spook at the passing train at first. You cannot see the tracks because they are behind a wall of trees.
What to bring on Saturday:
There is not much shade so bring a canopy.
Bring a muck bucket and a apple-picker (closely tined pitchfork). You must clean up
after yourselves or we will lose the venue.
Pick up all trash for the same reason.
Directions to the park:
It is off of route 28. The road is across from the shopping center that is between Vint Hill Road and Linton Hall Road. The park doesn't look like a park b/c it is by an abandoned house on the right and before the train tracks. Pull in right after the abandoned white house (by-the-way it is to be fixed up to become a mounted police academy someday). Watch out for the stupid PVC air vent pipes that stick out of the ground. The entrance is dirt b/c there are drainage pipes that were recently put in. The ground does dry quickly, but pray it doesn't rain the night b/f the show or we will have to cancel.

Subject: looking for a mini Date: Wed, 10 Jun 2009 10:32:58 -0400 From: chessons1@...
Hi Martha, I'm putting out all my "feelers" desperately looking for a driving mini for the young adults in my cancer survivor program. The survivors are high school age and are pretty good drivers, some very good, and some more compromised by their chemo and or radiation. We have 4 minis now, 2 on loan, one donated, and one bought? We have 5 kids now and many more on a wait list. They have a lesson 1 day a week, and sometimes have demonstrations or a pleasure show on the weekend. Do you know of anything that might work, preferably a donation of course but let me know all the options, no crazy money as its just not available. Thank you, Sharon Chesson

[mailto:walkerman1@...] Subject: Horse board within the
Battlefields
Please pass the word to your horse friends who might wish to
keep their horse [s] within the Manassas Nat’l Battlefield
Park…..THANK YOU
We don’t often have a space or 2 available so
hopefully, this might provide a long waited for opportunity for some fun person
and their “best buddy”………………
Most of you know us and where we are and, the outstanding
care we give our horses and those who board with us. We are a smaller
{3-4 boarders + our own 3 in the two barns and pastures] facility within the
Nat’l Park so that you have no need of a trailer…if you wish.
The barn, fences, watering, pastures, parking are all very
good……fences all traditional wood. Each horse has a
stall…run-in’s...best feeds and hay…super
farrier…..Haymarket Vet Svc [ask them about us…703 754
3309]….2X annual dental care…..property owners charming and
personable……I schedule everything and oversee the
appointments. No “nickel and dime’g” over extra hay or
feed…………….they get whatever they need. Our horses
are the center of our universe…………
Can’t say enough about the trails…..perhaps the
most trails and many will say, the best maintained in Northern
Virginia. Including the trails off our back pastures across Bull Run, there are well over 6000 acres and approx 35
miles of trails. You saddle-up and ride out! The barn [s] are part of our
circa 1847 home and property within a beautiful setting. Our full care board is
$400-425/month.
Give us a call and come by and see us. Normally, we do
not have this availability so, if you know of someone…please tell them
about us.

I wanted to send out an update and thank those who have volunteered so far. We have enough volunteers now for set up and and tear down, but we are still in need of volunteers for the day of the show morning and afternoon shifts. If you are riding in the morning you can always volunteer for the afternoon or vice versa and get your division free.
I am working 12 hours tomorrow so please email me if you can help out.

Show Managers
I am looking for old photos from the western shows ranging from 2003-2006. I
went trought the old message board but the ones from Mo are no longer posted
because Imagestation shut down. I tried to email Mo but her address that I have
gets returned. Does anyone have her new address? If anyone could help that
would be great.
Thanks
