Looking to sell or trade a 15.3hh 6yo TWH/SSH gelding for an AQH mare for trail
use. Bought
Charlie Brown in August 2008. He is my first gaited horse. Everyone said I would
fall in love
with a gaited horse and never look back, but I miss having an AQH mare.
Something about
that QH jog.
Charlie Brown is fully broke, a blast to ride and loveable. He recently had his
teeth floated, up
to date on all shots, negative Coggins and is barefoot. Have ridden him with a
Wintec all
purpose and lately bareback. I love this guy, but just prefer the QHs like my
last mare. I
would place an intermediate rider on him but bought him from someone who had
their little
girl riding him. Looking for a trail mare. Do not show anymore. Colors
unimportant but
partial to buckskins. Please come and take a look at Charlie Brown. Boarded in
Nokesville.

Dear Sirs,
I am a therapeutic riding instructor and we are seeking to acquire
candidates for a therapeutic riding center in Haymarket Va. We are
looking for sound, calm horses/ponies that would love to have a
meaningful job in a therapeutic arena. I posted the inquiry below
for more information and if you have any questions I would gladly
answer them.
I appreciate the time and opportunity you have taken in just reading
this post. If you have any suggestions I will greatly appreciate the
advice. It takes a special horse to be a therapeutic partner and
hopefully we may establish a contact or two through your
association. Happy trails and thank you for your time.
Babe Romine
NARHA instructor
If you, or any one you might know, might be interested please
contact Babe Romine at Hromine@..., or call 703 378 2552. I
would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
The therapeutic horse/pony must possess a calm, intelligent
personality and enjoy being around people. They must demonstrate a
peaceful, patient temperament and not be easily spooked or
flustered. Horses should be able to respond to the basic riding aids
and do so willingly. No major vices such as cribbing, bucking,
biting, rearing or bolting. They must demonstrate balanced gaits and
be in good health with no lameness issues. 10 plus years in age is
preferable but we will happily consider other younger candidates if
appropriate. Geldings preferred. The ideal therapeutic horse must
understand and know his/her job and be safe for riders of various
riding levels. Before they are introduced to lessons they undergo a
30-60 day trial period where they are ridden and tested in a variety
of situations. This is a great environment for horses not yet ready
to be done with their jobs but are beyond the hunting or competitive
arenas. Call for more information. We thank you for your time and
consideration. Happy Trails.

Currently looking to half lease (with option to buy) a 17 year old pony
at Century Manor Farm. "Hannah" can be ridden both English and Western.
She has been to many gymkhanas, on trails, in a parade, as well as,
been taken to the suburbs and ridden there! I don't wish to retire her
as I think another individual could enjoy her. She is ridden regularly,
but I feel she could easily be used more. She is 13.2, full of
personality and suited for an experienced rider. For more info contact
Deb 703 730 6326
I also have a quarter horse mare, "Taffy", available for half lease.
She is 14.3h. She is suitable for a beginner, as well as, an
experienced rider. She goes English or Western as well. She recently
took a "short stirrup" rider all the way to the top for Year End Awards
at the NHS English shows. She is uncomplicated under saddle and
willing. Deb 703 730 6326 (I am willing to negotiate terms and price on
1/2 lease)
I have about 6 round bales I'd like to sell. They are mostly
fescue/orchardgrass mix that was baled and immediately stored in my
indoor arena. They are horse quality, but ok for cattle. I am selling
them for $50. each. Sherry (703) 594-3325, Bluegrass Farm, Nokesville.

Oops! I placed a message on this site a few nights ago advertizing my
horse trailer for sale and forgot to include my phone number. If you
have questions or would like to see the trailer you can still reach me
by email or give me a call at 703-447-2122. I found a trailer for sale
just like mine on a web site I can forward (good images) and the owner
is asking over $4000. more than I.
Trailer info:
I have a 3 horse gooseneck, 2000, aluminum, slant load, 7' Ht., step up
horse trailer I am selling! The trailer has a
dressing room and one of those portable 3 saddle racks you can install
in the dressing room or the back of the trailer. I don't use the
saddle rack myself. The trailer is in good shape and just inspected.
It has some minor dings in it, nothing significant or that would cause
a problem (safety). The tires are good and spare is attached. Bearings
have been greased and the trailer maintained. I got a steal on it when
I bought is so I can pass that on. I am selling the trailer for $9500.
or best reasonable offer. I will take pictures and anyone interested I
will email them. The trailer is light and pulls well. Questions or

The Raymond property where we host our annual Judged Pleasure Ride and USTR picnic, adjacent to the Blue Ridge center, is one of the properties targeted to accommodate these enormous power structures. The Raymonds are such good neighbors to all of us, please be a good neighbor and help terminate this plan and placement of these power lines.

"PATH, the Potomac-Appalachian Transmission Highline, is a 244 mile, 765-kilovolt transmission line proposal, designed to carry a vastly enhanced amount of coal-fired generation to states and cities in the mid-Atlantic East Coast.
PATH is proposed by Greensburg, Pa.-based Allegheny Energy and Columbus, Ohio-based American Electric Power (AEP), with a $1.8 billion price tag and an expected in-service date of 2013. The PATH line would draw power largely from the John Amos power plant, which uses mountain top and strip mined coal, and other coal-fired generators in the Ohio River Valley.
The PATH transmission line would begin at St Albans, just northeast of Charleston, WV. After tracking nearly 200 miles through WV, the line would cross into Frederick County, Virginia, then Jefferson County, WV, and then into northern Loudoun County, VA. PATH would then cross over the Blue Ridge, past Neersville, over the Short Hills, and through
Lovettsville to cross the Potomac above Point of Rocks. In Loudoun County the project would either follow and substantially widen the existing right of way (currently a 500 kv and 135 kv lines) or follow an entirely new route looping around the Blue Ridge Center and, in Lovettsville, looping just north of the town, in both cases to avoid conservation easements or, more likely, simply to show an alternative to the right of way. ... Wonderful TB mare, 6 yrs old, just under 16.2. I have had my hours
cut at work and simply can not afford her. Dartagnia has 90 days of
prof training with top event riders, jumps anything and has a great
brain, awesome work ethic and a calm, loving personality. She has
all the right basics but is not yet fully "made" though well on her
way. Won her first event on dressage score of 28! Great movement
and an athletic jump w/ scope and loves cross country. Has been
shown locally, fox hunted second field, trail ridden alone and in
company. Easy to turn out with mares or geldings. Currently packing
around a 13 yr old intermediate rider (B low C equivalent) Excellent
opportunity for some one who simply can not afford their own right
now! Pony clubbers welcome. Keep her with us (indoor, lighted
flatwork outdoor ring, jump ring, trails and fellow pony clubbers) or
take her to your barn. Check out her video and call with any
questions,
Jane 703-338-5902.

Hello, I got an update email on the arabian horses and felt I should
post it as well. thanks for your interest.
Good news...
FROM THE OWNER OF THE ARABIANS
**********************************************************************
*********
Date: Sunday, January 18, 2009, 2:48 PM
From the owner...
"First I want to thank everyone for their offers of help and support
and especially for the prayers for my husband and me. Several asked
about his terminal illness: he has just been diagnosed with pancreatic
cancer that has already spread to his liver and lungs. I have taken
extended medical leave of absence from both my jobs and of course he
is on medical leave from his.
I have received 144 emails at this writing about the horses that I
posted to this venue about 36 hours ago. All the horses are committed
to good homes and over half of them were already picked up yesterday.
I met several new people who I hope will become new friends.
I have not had a chance to even read all the emails, let alone answer
them, but PLEASE DO NOT CALL as the phone rang constantly yesterday
and we already received 3 phone calls before 9 AM this morning.
Though I appreciate your interest in the horses, my husband needs his
rest and the calls are disrupting that. I don't want to have to take
my phone off the hook in case of an emergency with my 80-year-old
mother-in-law or if my husband's medical clinic tries to reach us.
Also I understand that several people cross-posted my original email
to various other sites. I only placed the email on two Yahoo! groups,
The_Arabian_ Horse_Classified s and RAH. But I have heard from people
who saw it on ablackhorse. com and various other places, and multiple
"rescue" and "rehoming" organizations have been in touch.
PLEASE FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO ANYONE YOU FORWARDED THE ORIGINAL TO and
call everyone you called in the first place to let them know the
horses are gone.
Again, thanks to everyone for their help and support. Please keep us
in your prayers.
Billie S. Dunavent

I am so sorry to hear about this family's plight, and was gladdened to learn that all of the horses have been claimed. However, to imply that the stockyard is the only option is a false choice. Humane euthanasia is always a choice when all other efforts at sale or adoption are exhausted.

I have just spoken to Billie Dunavent. She has asked
that I share with all her heart-felt appreciation.
Homes have been found for all the horses.
Please though keep the Dunavent's in your prayers.
I just got this email and thought I would post it here as someone out
there may be interested. Contact info is at the bottom of the email.

Arabian Horses in Kentucky FREE
____________ _________ _________ ______
For medical reasons, my husband and I are dispersing our herd
immediately.
We are giving away FREE 12 purebred Arabians. They MUST be moved
before the
end of January or I'll have to send them to a stockyard. We will have
no
choice.
Please email me privately for extended pedigrees. Time is of the
essence. No
comments, please, about the stockyard. After 35 years of creating a
wonderful gene pool and beautiful, athletic horses, my first priority
now has to be
my husband who was just diagnosed with an aggressive terminal
illness. The
last few months we expect to have together will have to take priority
over the
horses and we hope to find them good homes in the next two weeks. It
is our
hope that anyone reading them will spend their energy helping find
placements
rather than being critical of the alternative we may be forced to
take.
I have the ped igrees in .jpeg format, or anyone can look them up in
the
DataSource as well. None are broken to ride, though a couple have had
some
professional halter training. They are all quality breeding stock and
some would
make phenomenal show horses.
All the horses are located on my farm in central KY. They are all
free to
approved homes. I'll try to have all their pedigrees on my Web page
shortly at
_www.dunaventarabia ns.com_ (http://www.dunavent arabians. com/) . I
cannot pay
for Coggins and health papers on any of them, or pay for shipping
them for
people. We have enough expenses with feeding them for the rest of the
month and
paying for medical expenses for my husband's illness.. I have already
taken
extended medical leave from both my jobs.
At this point I guess it will be "first come, first served" to get
them
moved. You will see G Silk Boy figu res prominantly in the pedigrees.
He was a US
and Canadian Top Ten in performance and the last son at stud in the
U.S. of
the phenomenal US and Canadian Top Ten *Muscat daughter Amber Silk. G
Silk
Boy was sired by *Menes and was 75% Russian.
Here's the list:
Mares & Fillies:
PF Mirada, AHR#460022, 1989 mare (*Mikado/RMS Wind Song, by Sahara
Dancer),
last registered foal by US National Champion Park Horse *Mikado, very
athletic, out of Gazon granddaughter. Sahara Dancer was a Regional

I have just spoken to Billie Dunavent. She has asked
that I share with all her heart-felt appreciation.
Homes have been found for all the horses.
Please though keep the Dunavent's in your prayers.

He was a US

Hello NHS!
A quick update on trails planning and construction in Prince William
County. Last year, the County passed a new Chapter of the
Comprehensive Plan defining goals for preserving open space and
establishing recreational corridors with trails connecting parks and
communities. As a part of this plan, a County appointed Trails
Council is being established in the near future to advise on
priorities, connectivity, construction, and other aspects of these
trails.
The Council will be made up of two year appointees. The intent of
the Park Authority Board and Supervisors is to have trail users from
the different districts, and disciplines make up the sixteen council
members. I would ask that if serving as a Council member would be of
interest to you, and you would have the time, and you reside in
Prince William County, please contact your local Supervisor or Park
Authority Board member and let them know of your interest. It would
be good to have an equestrian presence on this advisory council for
future planning.
If you would like to know more about the Council; the new Parks, Open
Space, and Trails Chapter; or on how to contact your supervisor or
Park Authority Board Member, please let me know. I am happy to
provide the information.
Please also pass this information to other equestrians you know who
reside in Prince William County and may have an interest in serving
as a Council member, even if not members of NHS. It is a great
opportunity.
Happy Riding,
Scott Helberg
