Subject: FOR SALE: Tucker Equitation Endurance Saddle Package
Hi All,
I'm selling my gently used 17.5" W Tucker Equitation Endurance saddle. I'm including a Tucker breastplate, running martingale, girth, Skito saddle pad, plus lots of other extras - basically everything you'll need to saddle-up and hit the trails this summer.
I've listed this Tucker saddle package on eBay with a starting bid of $1,000 or Buy-It-Now for only $1,200 (retail value if purchased new today is well over $1,800). Saddle package is available for FREE pick-up in Centreville, VA or we can make arrangements for local delivery. Sorry - no trails or returns. The auction ends on MONDAY, JUNE 16.
4 yo unregistered 14.3h buckskin AQH mare free to good home. Cannot be ridden
ever again
due to an injury on her right hock. Can only afford 1 horse and would like to be
able to ride
again.
She loads, stands, loves to be groomed and hugged on. Also, she likes her rump
scratched. Is
barefoot, UTD on all shots and worming. Gets along well with people and other
horses. Barn
references are available. She is boarded in Nokesville, VA.
If good home is found, may also provide the turn-out blankets she has (Rhino and
cooler).
Might be able to train her for a cart horse, but she cannot bear the weight of a
rider on her
back due to the hock injury.
Photos at http://www.shannonandfriends.com/dynamite.html. The price listed on
the site is
$1500. Ignore that. I am opening up the chance to give her away free to the NHS
first.

Here's the link to the 6/28/2008 Western show. Click the thumbnails to

directly momof3smk@... and tell me which photo number it is
(DCS7067 or whatever the number maybe like that one, that's just an
example). I don't know all horse or people names, only some of them so
the number of the photo would be better. They are free, no charge.

Hi everyone,
Keep an eye out for the Extra this week. NHS had a Washington Post
photographer on assignment to a portion of the Western Show today.
Many pictures were taken during the trails classes and part of the
speed events. You may see yourself or one of your closest freinds in a
pictorial feature for NHS! Rumor has it that it could even be a full
page.

Jeff-
We had the hail storm from hell Tuesday- every aluminum trailer on our lot has
cosmetic damage. I am busy dealing with our insurance company to try to settle
a claim. This may be a great time to buy a trailer as I expect that we are
going to “scratch and dent” a lot of this inventory- rather than
spend the money to ship the trailers back to the mfg to be reskinned.
Private 3 stall barn for rent in Haymarket. Stalls have rubber mats,
hay room, tack room with mini fridge, wash pad, water and electricity.
Neighborhood trails. Ideal for one owner with two horses. Would
consider 3 horses but only on a very limited turn-out schedule. Prefer
self-care, but partial-care is also an option. Previous tenants paid
between $400 to $700 depending on level of care. I can email photos of
the barn. Please call Rachel at 703-298-9233 or email
rcsmellis@... for more information.
I am an experienced rider/instructor in Nokesville, VA offering English
horseback riding lessons for beginners through advanced of all ages. I
have horses at my house to ride or I can travel out to your place. If
interested please call or email me for rates and times available!

Just a reminder that NHS will be installing the three board fence
along the road by the Nokesville Park arena starting at 8:00 AM
tomorrow morning. Many hands make short work, so we'd appreciate as
many folks as possible to come and help.
Bring a good pair of work gloves, any fence building tools you use
around your farm, a gallon of ice cold water and your sense of humor!
See you there!

Hi all...I have just joined NHS and am very excited about attending
some of the trail rides, etc. I am posting this to see if anyone can
pick me and my horse up so I can attend the June 21 ride (or I'll
follow in my car). Of course, I'll be glad to pay for gas. He is
conveniently located directly off of Rt. 29, at Buckland Farm/Paynted
Chace Farm, on Vint Hill Road, so if anyone happens to be going by that
area, please, can you give me a ring? BTW, he is super-easy to load
and trailer and causes no problems whatsoever. A real gentleman! 703-

Thank you.
I would like to offer this saddle to our group first before putting
on Ebay. It was bought last August, is in perfect condition, and
will come with matching Wintec "leathers" and dressage girth (it is Y
girthed), and the complete set of 3 wide gullet plates. It is the
lovely dark brown color, size 16 1/2 - note - since it is a deeper
seat it fits more like a dressage saddle so you would want a 1/2 to 1
inch larger than you would take in a flat saddle. They sell new for
about $575 for just the saddle. I'd like to get $400 for the
complete set. I can bring it to the meeting Wednesday or let you see
it first at the barn if anyone is interested.

A warning to dog and cat lovers re cocoa bean shell mulch: pets are attracted by the chocolate smell and may eat it.  When dogs and cats eat the mulch, they suffer theobromine poisoning: vomit, seizures and death.  The information came from my friend, Ruth Zeh, at work.  She is on the board of Rappcats, a Rappahannock County organization for abandoned, abused and stray cats.
I know that many of you love and have dogs. Please read the below sent by a fellow RappCats board member.
Yesterday one of our dog agility friends experienced a tragedy and wanted me to pass a special message along to all of my dog loving friends and family. Please tell every dog owner you know.
Over the weekend the doting owner of two young lab mixes purchased Cocoa Mulch from Target to use in their garden. They loved the way it smelled and it was advertised to keep cats away from their garden.
Their dog Calypso decided that the mulch smelled good enough to eat and devoured a large helping. She vomited a few times which was typical when she eats something new but wasn't acting lethargic in any way. The next day, Mom woke up and took Calypso out for her morning walk. Half way through the walk, she had a seizure and died instantly.
Although the mulch had NO warnings printed on the label, upon further investigation on the company's website, this product is HIGHLY toxic to dogs and cats.
Cocoa Mulch is manufactured by Hershey's, and they claim that "It is true that studies have shown that 50% of the dogs that eat Cocoa Mulch can suffer physical harm to a variety of degrees (depending on each individual dog). However, 98% of all dogs won't eat it."
Cocoa Mulch, which is sold by Home Depot, Foreman's Garden Supply and other Garden supply stores, contains a lethal ingredient called "Theobromine" . It is lethal to dogs and cats. It smells like chocolate and it really attracts dogs. They will ingest this stuff and die. Several deaths already occurred in the last 2-3 weeks. Just a word of caution, check what you are using in your gardens and be aware of what your gardeners are using in your gardens.
Theobromine is the ingredient that is used to make all chocolate especially dark or baker's chocolate which is toxic to dogs.
Cocoa bean shells contain potentially toxic quantities of theobromine, a xanthine compound similar in effects to caffeine and theophylline. A dog that ingested a lethal quantity of garden mulch made from cacao bean shells developed severe convulsions and died 17 hours later. Analysis of the stomach contents and the ingested cacao bean shells revealed the presence of lethal amounts of theobromine.
Please email the manufacturer at michellemessick@ ... and request that accurate information about this product be posted on the packaging to avoid further tragedy.

Unfortunately, Miss Utility was not able to mark the undergound

Gorgeous April 2004 14.3H AQH Buckskin Mare for breeding or stable mate.
Impeccable
ground manners. Loads, stands, lifts her feet and wants to be loved on. Has had
a
combination of Parelli, Westfall and Lyons training. Due to an injury to her
right hock, she can
no longer be ridden. Sire is Dapple Buck Jr., Dam is Bravo's Sweet Request. From
Christoval,
West Texas. Barefoot as she has excellent feet. Not "marish." Smart and
inquisitive. UTD on all
shots, coggins and worming. She is supposed to be a registered AQHA mare, but
have been
unable to get the papers from the gentleman I bought her from. This mare comes
from
excellent bloodlines and should produce amazing foals with the right breeding.
Currently
boarded in Nokesville, VA. Please email Shannon at mail4shi@... for
inquiries.

Folks,
I get request often from folks around my area (N. Virginia) to help place minis
for little money or free. This is a situation where a big horse person got a
few minis for the kid and now the they have moved on. The mini has been taken
care of in requards to food, shelter, farrier and vet, but need attention. It
it not broke to drive, BUT if you take this mini - especially folks that live
near me, I can work out a good deal for US to finish teaching him to drive. You
can even come to the Pleasure Driving Clinics that Nokesville Horse Society is
Hosting in the future and Trail drives I would like to start up again!
Here are the particulars:
"Anyway, Thought you might know someone who is interested in a Miniature
Stallion that I am placing. I am asking $500.00 for him AND a mini cart and
harness. The cart and harness are in good condition. The mini is jet black and I
have temporary registration papers to AMHR for him. He is 6 yo.. I am not really
looking to "sell" him as much as find him a good home.. Just trying to recoup
what I have in the equipment pretty much! He is not really broke to drive, but
we have had him in the harness and he has been led pulling the cart and wasn't
nutty or anything about it. He does have a hoof that had an injury when he was
younger (all before I met him) and his hoof is split.. (not cracked.. split.. He
appears to be sound on it.. no problems that we have ever seen. I got him from a
lady who could no longer care for him.. so I really want to make sure he goes to
a good home. We just sold the pony gelding who was his companion and he is
lonely.. we can't turn him out w/the bigger horses since we have a mare.. that
would be "interesting!" We just don't "need" him.. and he certainly deserves the
chance to have a home where he will be appreciated:) anyway, If you know anyone
interested in this package deal, please let me know. "
--------------------
I personally would like to see this mini go to a home that is willing to GELD
him. Even with gelding you are getting a fantastic deal on just the equipment
alone. You can't get many new-used cart and harness for $500. So the mini is
really only costing the amount of the gelding.
Please email me if you are interested. I live in Northern Virginia -
Nokesville to be exact.

Hi Folks,
July 6th is our next pleasure driving clinic and show. It will be located at
Nokesville park again. Our topic will be Cones classes. There will be a
discussion of the various types of classes available and what those classes
entail. Clinic will be done in-carriage, so that each turnout can practice a
couple of patterns of cones and will be critiqued before the schooling show
starts.
The schooling show will have 5 classes - working pleasure, reinsmanship, timed
cones, fault and out (cones) and progressive cones. Classes will be divided by
size of equine.
We are encouraging drafts, donkeys, Mules and minis to come in addition to the
usual horses and ponies. Auditors and auditing equines welcome.
There is also a short but fun trail drive around the park suitable for small
horses to minis.
This is a fantastic opportunity to bring out that green horse or that green
driver. A safety check will be conducted as turnouts enter the ring.
Any vendor with emphases in driving is welcome to come at no charge. Please
contact me 703-789-8167 during the day.
