I am looking for an 8 stall or larger barn in Prince William or
Fauquier county to rent for a private training facility. I need both
indoor and outdoor arenas. I would consider sharing a barn also.

Hello,
I am posting this for a friend of mine. She recently sold a horse this
past winter at an auction in Marshall. He is a very large brown
quarter horse and went by the name of beau. He had received extensive
training however was very cinchy. Once you got the saddle on him, he
could do anything. He was sold for $1500 and his prior owners name
was Maryanne White. She had given her information to the new owner
but had not heard from the owner since his sell. If anyone knows of
this horse or the person who purchased him, please drop me a line and
I can give them Maryannes contact information as she would like to get
in contact with the person who purchased him. She believes the new
owner said they were from Leesburg.
Thanks for any help,
Marji

Robin,
Thank you for taking the time to e-mail me with your concerns about the budget, especially the Park Authority and the Coles Little League field. I have two young boys who play baseball, so I do understand that sports fields are extremely important to the youth in our community. As you know, it is an extremely tough budget year and the struggling economy is affecting everybody. I am working hard with staff and the Board to come up with a win-win situation for the citizens in the County. Hopefully that will include the Park bonds getting released and the new fields becoming a reality.

I am contacting you in follow up to my email to Mr. Nohe, who I understand has supported the funding of continued improvements to
the Coles Little League Field, known as Cupka Field. I am copying my prior email to Mr. Nohe for you all as well, in hopes that you will support the necessary improvements to keep this very special place available to the community. I hope one day to see my grandkids (now 3 and 1) playing on the same filed their dads and uncles played on. I also hope the Challenger League is still supported at Coles, teaching kids to accept and support players at all levels and abilities. Thank you for your votes to keep this community and memory alive.
Robin Cupka and the Cupka family
Dear Mr. Nohe,
My name is Robin Cupka. My husband, Darien, and I were active at Coles Field for many years, coaching and supporting our four sons and their friends. This field is a community center, with not only area kids, but the wonderful efforts of supporting handicapped children, giving them a chance to play ball, and having the other children learn to accept and support them by being "buddies".
Our son Carl was in a fatal accident, hit by a car near our home, in April of 1991. Ball practice had just begun. The community honored us by naming the field after Carl. Several years later, one of our family's friends, the Rusciolelli's, lost their son in a similar circumstance. The fields hold many happy memories and are very special places to us all.
The issues with these fields have been ongoing for many years. Please, support the improvements for these fields so more families can have the experience of playing ball, learning to work as a team, and sharing the community activities and friendships that are built in little league. The Cupka family appreciates your support.
Ever want to learn about dressage? Come and enjoy the journey! I
have a few lessons slots available at my farm (or possibly yours) for
horses and their humans that would like to learn about this amazing
sport. Come and see our INCREDIBLE Musical Freestyle Exhibition and
fundraiser event on May 17th, 1 PM, at Bluegrass Farm in Nokesville.
This is where horses and riders dance to music while raising funds to
spay and neuter dogs and cats. For more information, please email,

I got this from another list I'm on, and thought you all might like to try
this for mosquitos AND flys.
I would be careful about spraying around a horses eyes, as it would surely
irritate sensitive tissue,
but I would wipe it on their face and ears. It's cheap (try the Dollar
Store), so why not give it a
try?

Tri-County/City SWCD is sponsoring an "Environmentally Friendly Horse"
workshop on May 15 at the King George Community Center, just east of
Fredericksburg. Registration deadline is May 1. Cost is only $20.
Please check out our website link for a copy of the brochure and for
more information!

If you have trouble getting to this link, just go to our website and

We decided to do this workshop after I attended a well done similar
workshop at the MARE Center a few months ago. It is a growing issue
here and statewide - smaller acreages supporting horses.
Please feel free to register, we'd love to have you! Great food
provided! Fried chicken, BBQ, etc. Also, please distribute the
brochure and information to those you feel would benefit from this
timely workshop. We are planning to have a follow up field day in the
near future as well.
Thanks!

If anyone has or knows of a mare that has lost a foal or perhaps has just weaned a foal that we may be able to borrow or lease for a month or two, please call Ron or Kara Smith, 540-384-6272.
We have an orphan foal born April 22 that needs a
mommy. We are temporarily using a combination of powdered milk and another nursing mare to keep this little filly going but she needs a full time mommy. We can wean one of our foals about May 30 from another mare, and put the new born foal on her, so we just need a nurse mare for about a month.
I took a few photos while I was at the show this afternoon and have
posted them on the NHS website in the Photos section. They're under
the heading "Western Show April 26, 2008". If anyone else took photos
during the show that they would like to post, feel free!
Warmest regards,

If you have always wanted to help out the
club but did not know where you could help out, now is your chance. We
need several volunteers for this Saturday’s Western Schooling Show at JamesLongPark. If you can
only help out part of the day we could still use your help. We need
primarily morning set up and registration help, but any help is
appreciated. Let me know if you can make it, or just show up. The
set up starts at 7:30am and the show will end approximately 5pm.
Specifically we could use help with the following duties:
Morning
set up (7:30am)
set
up of the trail course (mid day)
registration
(mostly morning)
passing
out ribbons (through out the day)
ring
steward (through out the day)
Volunteers earn points toward our NHS
Wrangler Award, get free lunch and can get limited free classes at either the Saturday’s
Western show or any of the other shows in the NHS Schooling Show Series.
(English, Gaited, Jumper, Driving)
Come out and join the fun on Saturday.
In the event of inclement weather an
announcement will be made via our NokesvilleHorseSociety Yahoo Group by 7pm on
Friday. To see the announcement, go to our website at www.NokesvilleHorseSociety.org,
click on “Event Messages” from the menu on the left side of the
page, then scan to the bottom of the event message list for the most current/recent
message.
The NHS website does not yet reflect some changes we've made to the
ages for some divisions (though the flyer is current). Leadline is 7
yrs and under. Bantam Division is 8 - 11 years, Youth Sr. is 15-17
yrs and Youth Jr. is 12-14 yrs. This may affect some of you so I
wanted to give you notice. This also means that the oldest child to
compete in games needs to be at least 8 years old and able to walk/jog
the events themselves. Anyone that would like to show leadline can do
so before the Bantam class begins and they will get their own ribbons
as an expo class. Also, Novice Rider and Novice Horse western
pleasure classes are walk/jog only. Please e-mail me at
shoefreeperform@... if you have further questions.

I hate to give up this wonderful little wagon, but one of my donkeys is too old and arthritic to work anymore and it's too small for our 14 morgans and too big for our minis.
We had so much fun with it when my sons were smaller. We would drive the donkeys as pairs to the corner gas station and food mart and get candy and soda.
Anyway - it's suitable for 2 11-12 hand ponies/donkeys or a single 12-13 hand pony. Asking $2200. Located in northern VA - you arrange to pick it up. It fit nicely into our stock trailer.

Hi Everyone,
If you are interested in showing in the reining class this weekend,
I'm offering the pattern to anyone who e-mails me asking for it. It
is a modified version of the AQHA pattern #1, but since it is new to
some, I thought they may want to see it in advance (and practice).
Have fun at the show!

Good morning everyone,
During the driving clinic last weekend, we met this gentleman who
asked if there were any horse farms in the area that would let his
brownie troop come for a visit. We aren't quite set up for that yet,
but I was hoping someone might be able to host them for a few hours.
Since the mission of the NHS is education and promotion of equine
activities in Northern VA, this would be a perfect opportunity for that!
Please contact Mr. Taylor (his contact information is included in the

keep track of whether we're able to help him.
Thanks!

Good morning sir,
We met this past weekend and spoke briefly about setting something up
between our organizations.
I have 13 girls in my brownie troop and I would love to give them the
opportunity to learn and enjoy your world.
The girls range in age from 7 to 9, and most have had minimal (if any)
exposure to horses.
I look forward to hearing from you and your thoughts.
Thank you very much,
Gary Taylor

Hello! I am active duty Air Force and I will be moving to the Northern
Virginia area in August. I am looking for a home to rent that I can
keep my horses (I have 3) at home. I also have 2 daughters (16 and 7)
and 2 dogs. If anyone has any information on available properties,
please let me know! I will be coming all the way from California.
Thanks!
I have a complete 10x10 stall that I purchased from S.States a couple
of years ago and no longer use. It is in good shape and is complete
with wood board slats and connectors. Cost was over 1,000.00 new.
Asking 600.00 (includes delivery if within 20 miles of Nokesville
area). I will discount price if picked up at my home in Manassas. I
also have one 12ft side section purchased from Tractor Supply with
boards for 150.00. Last I have a 60ft portable round pen for 675.00
(delivery also available).

The Thoroughbred Network, which is a not-for-profit organization that
strives to educate people about Thoroughbreds and to encourage the use
of Thoroughbreds in equine activities, is holding another show this
year at the Warrenton Horse Show Grounds on April 26th, 2008.
The show is not just for Thoroughbreds, though. They do have all breed
classes, fun classes, leadline for children AND adults, pole bending,

I'm posting this for a friend. If you are interested in either horse
contact Lydia at the bottom of the page. I can also provide pictures.
Ruth,
these two horses will be put down unless they find homes.
Lexus is a 16H gray QH/TB unregistered cross. She is 8 years old.
She has been trained as a jumper and has done a nice 2'6 and 3'
course. She is comfortable in an arena... She does not feel as
comfortable on trail rides but if she goes at a walk/trot with mellow
horses...she does fine. She has never been bred but should make a very
nice broodmare.
This past year she has had some problems with her lower back...Her
owner has spent several hundred dollars on vetting but the vet
suggested the best thing for Lexus to heal a soft tissue injury is to
have about 6 months of rest.
Her owner would like to find her a nice home. She has had all of her
spring vaccinations,up to date on worming, current coggins, and a
dental float.
please contact Lydia Cunningham at the contact information below.
Mocha is a registered appaloosa gelding. He is 7 years old and stands
15.3H
He was purchased as a hunter prospect but proved to need too much
training for his current owner who is a veterinarian. Mocha came to
Mountaintop Ranch for training but had a non controllable bolting
incident and the owner has decided not to continue his training. Mocha
needs a lot of work ...he is definitely a training project or he can
be a nice babysitter. Mocha is an easy keeper, has good feet and good
ground manners.
He seems more comfortable on quiet trail rides than in the arena but
is not dependable.
