Hi everyone,

Mountaintop ranch has a horse that is pretty much a give away. She
is a 4 year old chestnut mare about 14.3.
She is quite and well trained and is registered in the AHPA as a
breeding stock mare.

She requires about $1300 worth of medical care which her owners do not
wish to provide. They have decided to put her down if a home is not
found.

She is good to ride and breed. She is very cute with a fine boned
head and would make a very nice children's or older persons horse if
someone wishes to do the vetting. She is free ti anyone that will
agree to get her the health care that she needs.

If anyone is interested and would like more information please contact
Lydia at (540) 298-8909 or e-mail mttopranch@... for more information.

We only have two weeks and this a pretty nice little mare.

Ruth

I was wondering if anyone could give me some input on getting some
horse insurance and if it is highly reccomended. I was noticing a
flyer at the vet clinic from the ASPCA saying they provide insurance
for your pets but didnt see anything for horses in particular. I was
wondering which companies might be the best to go with . Any
information would be appreciated. I was wondering what the monthly
cost is that I should expect to pay.
thanks,
Marji

Hi! I just recently joined the Nokesville Horse Society. My name is
Sharon & I ride through the Rainbow Therapeutic riding here in
Haymarket. I'm in my Summer session right now.

Is anyone from Gainesville in this group? I was interested in going
to the James Long Park show in the afternoon. If anyone's going from
Gainesville and wouldn't mind giving me a lift. I'd appreciate it.
Look forward to meeting everyone in this group. For now, take care,
Sharon

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone else is having horse slobber issues?  It has been going on for about a month.  I know that it is usually caused by a fungus on the clover.  It seems strange to have this problem this year since it has been so dry and I would figure that fungus would need wet conditions.  Does anyone know how long this usually lasts?  The vet recommended taking the horses off the pasture for a week or two but I hate to do this since they are finally on pasture over night after waiting for the spring grass to pass.  I have been here seven years and have never had this issue before.  My pastures are well maintained and are kept mowed.

Thanks!
Kim

URGENT – HELP NEEDED – RESCUE MUST MOVE BY SEPTEMBER 22, 2007

Dear friends and supporters,

For the last 16 years, the Equine Rescue League has operated a

rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption center at Churchland Farm, just

outside of Leesburg, Virginia. With your help and generosity, the ERL

has made a difference in the lives of hundreds and hundreds of

horses, ponies, donkeys, and mules since its founding in 1990. We

have also aided local animal control offices, provided educational

programs, and participated in many community events.

Now, however, the ERL needs your help more than ever before. Loudoun

County has generously allowed us to lease a farm property from them

for over a decade and half. We were there with the understanding that

this would not be a permanent arrangement. It appears the ERL's

opportunity to occupy this facility is nearly over. The County has

notified the rescue that they must leave the property by September

22, 2007.

It is our goal to continue the ERL's operations, but in a different

location. Therefore, we are asking for any and all help from anyone

who can help us find or finance a new farm. We would appreciate

assistance on procuring a property, raising funds, and soliciting

donations or grants.

Please contact the Equine Rescue League office at 703-771-1240 if you

can help us continue to help them!

Hi everyone,

Marian Cloud, our parade coordinator, has received information from the Clifton Horse Society about the parade in the city of Fairfax on July 4th.  She can provide you with what information she has.  Her number is 703 594-3631 or NokesvilleCloud9@....  Many of our regular parade participants will not be riding in this parade.  We need a commitment of at least 15 riders (must be NHS members for insurance purposes) for the NHS to participate.  Please respond to me no later than June 12th if you will be there.

Thanks,
Pat Pumphrey

Our June 9th English Hunter Show date is around the corner!

We are in need of several volunteer positions and you can earn free classes/divisions!

Come on out and give us a hand.  Some areas of need are:

Set up - Friday evenings before the shows.  It takes about 1 hour.  Arrive at 6:00 and well be ready to set up jumps.

Gate keepers we need 2 more people to help with the gate starting at 12:00.  This is also one of the best viewing seats in the house.

Ribbons and ring runners always needed.  We would like to have 1 morning person and 1 afternoon person.

Tear-down Immediately after the show.  It takes about 45 minutes to break-down and load the tables, PA system, jumps, etc.  The more people we have, the faster it goes.

We currently only have 1 committed gate person, 1 committed tear down person, and 2 registration table helpers.

Volunteering is easy and you can help at as many, or as few, shows as you like.

We are also looking into getting local clubs involved (such as 4-H, boy scouts, girl scouts, Rangers, etc.) that may be interested in earning points towards their badges.  This would be a great way to learn about horses, shows, and help the local horse community.  If you know of a group that may be interested, give us a call.

If you show at the Western show or Gaited show you can earn free classes at those shows by volunteering at our English show and vice versa.

Please call Karen Basala at 703-220-2015 to coordinate volunteering.

All driving events need volunteers. All horse shows needs volunteers.
Please consider volunteering for the Elk Creek CDE. They are desperate for
them. Experience is not necessary. Now is your chance to learn all about
COMBINED DRIVING. Pattern after eventing, the horse and carriages are a
sight to behold.

The event will take place in Fair Hill PA - right on the delaware/PA/MD
border - not far off of route 95. I'm sure if you would travel,
accomodations will be provided.
