Hi David, the LawnTecs have only been out a year or two now and are
becoming a hot item in the NQS pulling series and elsewheres (seems
like I seen a tally list of winners running each tire but can't
recall yet where it was). They are quite similar to the Dick Cepeks
with wrinkle walls (2 ply sidewalls) with exception of 2 or 3 fewer
lugs/chevrons and possibly a different rubber compound (not sure). I
believe this tire was designed for pullers with a higher wheel speed.
I run both the Cepek II's (26&31"), have a couple prs. of Cepek
I's "big bar" 31"ers that I haven't tried yet and have used both
styles of Temco PitBulls (I - 26" only & II's - 26x12x12 and
34x18x15) prefering the PitBull II's over the Cepeks, also have used
the Temco 31" bar style lugs (cut)- not as wide of a footprint and
great for lower horsepower setups. The PitBulls have two ply
sidewalls, a harder rubber compound and are slightly taller, have a
>> staggered chevron design that I like, a square shoulder on the I's
(chevron bars which I recommend be cut to use) and a little more
rounded shoulder on the II's (but more aggressive than Cepeks)- tire
looks more like the Cepek design. It's harder finding distributors
for the Temco PitBulls but some carry multiple brands. The Temcos
(all) also hold air better, constantly have to check tire pressures
with the 26" Cepeks. I have no personal experiance yet with the
LawnTecs and plan to try a pair in the future. I'll put a couple
photos of the PitBull II's in the file section, might have photos of
the others too. Glen Federico of our club (WNYGTPA) sells the Temcos,
gotta look up his addy. Geo
