Hi Brian,
I just spoke with FT who pretty much said the same thing he said to Roy.
I agree, we probably should set up a three-wheeler or trike class.
The wheelbase actually needs to be under 90 inches. I think that is
what you meant.
The reason I think we need to set up an OEM three-wheeler class is
because of the wheelbase and top speed requirements that are specific
to three-wheelers under the NHRA rules. It puts the vehicle at a
disadvantage if we were to mix them among other production or
modified vehicle classes. And keeping them in their own class keeps
them competing against each other and not against the full sized
vehicles.
So we probably should do a trike modified and trike production class
provided the vehicles are OEM, fall between 40 and 90 inches with the
wheelbase and is slower then 50 mph.
For these upcoming events it looks like all the three-wheelers racing
are stock OEM Sparrows and is it Zaps they are running.
I feel pretty embarrassed putting that message up yesterday and
having the racers and organizers pointing out what we should have
known and researched before hand.
This is the second time this week this has happened. I'm the editor
for my son's School PTA Newsletter and I had put in the newsletter
yesterday that the elementary school system is changing from grades
K-6 to K-5 (6 graders will go to middle school now) based on plans
from the county to restructure the school system. But in reality they
are only going to try K-5 at one school first in a pilot program. The
PTA president notified me of this change yesterday after I sent the
newsletter to the printer and by then it was too late. So now
hundreds of parents at my son's school are thinking their 5th grader
is going to middle school next school year instead of staying in
elementary school for another year. I've already caught it from a
couple parents, so it's going to be a rough week fielding questions
and emails.
And at the same day NEDRA members are getting the wrong information
about Three-Wheelers. I guess I need to be more diligent in making
sure the facts are 110 percent accurate before announcing things.
