NEDRA wise nothing happened. We were rained out by Tropical Storm
Berry. The AutoCross and ScooterCross events went great on Saturday.
I came in Second behind Dave Cover's Porsche, by just 1 second, and I
won the ScooterCross just beating Darrin Gilbert by 1 second. My 8
year-old son, Jake, won the Jr ScooterCross.
But Sunday was a washout.
We only made one run before the sky's opened up. And that was just me
and Joe Lado with his Fiero. My batteries were flat from the day
before doing AutoCross and I didn't have much time to charge
yesterday so I didn't do well but I beat Joe's car by 7 seconds.
When people arrived at the track Sunday I rushed around the pits to
get everyone to get their cars to tech as fast as they could before
the rain came but it was too late. Just Joe and I were able to make
it down the track before it came down.
I have to tell you, the AutoCross is pretty fun. The SCCA set up the
course for us and Dave and I both let the professional SCCA driver
take our cars out for a spin. He beat our best times by 2 seconds. He
was really impressed with the torque.
On Sunday all we could do was wander around the pits while it rained.
After the track closed early we stuck around and did the raffle and
Shawn and Darrin did burnouts in the pits with their rides. It was
like Joliet all over again.
Shawn let me ride AGNuS around the pits. He had just installed 36
V-28 Milwaukee LiPOs. The response was really great. The bike looks
likes it's dangerous but it's really predictable and solid. It feels
more stable at high speeds. I didn't take it anywhere near Denis
rides it but I was able to open it up a bit on a long stretch of one
of the pit roads. Kind of stupid doing that on wet pavement but the
bike handled great.
Monica wants me to resign from doing the Power of DC. After 5 years
she's had it since it takea alot of personal time and work to pull
these things together. I really don't want it to end on a wash out.
If I can get more guaranteed help from our Club I may reconsider.
Thanks Brian for the motor. We had a seperate raffle for the motors
and the guy who one it was really excited about it.
I had Darrin draw the name for the Etek since his bike had two Eteks
on it.
BTW, Darrin build a really nice Spider Box which we used on Sunday. 2
240 volt outlets and 8 110s. He just gave me the thing after the race
with a bunch of different 240 plugs we can adapt to it. So the Blue
Spider Box doesn't have to travel all over the US again.
So yesterday was a huge dissapointment. I may do a quick and dirty
Power of DC. in the late summer or early fall during a Test and Tune.
Nothing fancy. Just show up and race. We did that a couple years ago
and it was fun.
