Now is the time to start looking into registering your teams for
nationals. The price goes up towards the end of Feburary. I know it
sounds like a long ways away but it takes a long time to organize a
whole team.

Forward information about places to stay:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I found a website that has every Hotel in Tuscaloosa, along with
phone numbers, location, etc. As for quality of the accommodations, I
am not sure other than for the generalizing the hotel chains.
I asked the local tri club and our athletes about home stays. I
have currently received 5 responses from people who can host athletes.
Others said they can donate extra sleeping bags and air mattresses to
help out as well. I would say 10 athletes can have home stays
provided. I am anticipating more responses coming as people consult
their spouses and families. Some of the local ministries might also
be able to help with home stays and have been contacted.
As for camping, the nearest campground I could find is 12 miles
away. I tried to contact the Tuscaloosa Visitor's Bureau to be sure
the list I found is complete, but they couldn't be reached. The most
complete list of camping options can be found at the following link.
I hope this helps. I am pleased with the response from home stays
and I will keep you updated how that progresses. I think the sooner
we can determine which athletes will need home stays, and the sooner
we can pair them up with hosts, the better.
