Re: [NECTC] Re: tentative 2006 collegiate triathlon schedule

Eric,
Thank you for the support and email.  One concern that I have is helping college athletes to afford the season.  Triathlons can get really expensive, and one on our list (Boston Tri) is extremely expensive.  Do you think that directors will be willing to offer discounts for collegiate teams?  If not is there something that we might be able to offer to earn discounts, maybe have local teams volunteer at races.  I don't know if this will be possible because the most likely people to volunteer are the individuals on the team, and they will want to compete.  Maybe help with cleanup or setup the day before.  Also as the NE USAT collegiate representative I would like to meet the race directors.  Is there a good way to handle this.  I would like to get more involved in the NE region in general.

Thank you,
Bret

Looks like you folks are cooking up a great series of races for the
Collegiates.

Allow me to assist you in any way I can. I am the current President of
the New England (Northeast) Region of USAT. I know most of the race
directors and direct the Cranberry Country Triathlon in late August
each year. Let me know how I can help you with the series.

Regarding scoring, I would suggest one like the Club Championships set
up by USAT. It does not discriminate as to the size iof the race, but
it awards some points for each Team Competitor, and bonus points for
distance traveled.

You can find a description at this years Club Championship, the
Greenfield Lite Triathlon at

I have joined your list to follow your progress.

Regards,

Eric Averill
