Hey, I am new to this post but I want to contribute into getting the
NECTC going. I am currently trying to start a tri team at Boston
University. In the mean time I think we should get together and race
in local races. It sounds like everybody is eager to compete so lets
just start competing. My proposal is to set up a few races in
different areas and compare times. MIT already has a few races
listed, so I think everybody in the New England (at least the Boston
area) should all sign up for these races.
July 9th: Holliston (sprint)
Aug 13th: Lowell YMCA (Olympic: this looks new this year)
Sept. 3rd: Boston (sprint, yes, it is on again this year !)
To score individuals we should take the times of the top three men and
top two women. Then we can add up all the scores to make a first
unofficial race season. A placing system will be set up on times.
The scores will be based on place and not on time. I will be willing
to tally up the points and send off the final results if every team
sends me all the individual times. If we do get some unofficial
results I will talk to Shannon Votruba of USA triathlon about letting
us host a website for NECTC.
If these races are too far for you, I encourage other teams to set up
other races (maybe in the Penn/New Jersey area). I will also be
willing to tally up those scores as well. Note* we can only compare
scores from the same race.
Also, I heard about some talk of a NE Collegiate Tri Championship in
late September. What is the deal with this and what will it take to
actually get it going?
