Ralph,
I am not sure what USAT is thinking but I do know that there has been previous talk from teams. I personally want to know what everybody wants and desires. I also know that besides you guys the northeast did not have a very good showing. More or less what people in the conference wants I will back and support. If it is mixed then I think we should leave it the way it is.
I am asking to get more information and I will forward it to you once I know. If you could send me your team's opinion on the matter it will help me to argue one way or the other. My guess is that USAT wants to leave it where it is but is willing to look at another option. The main thing this round is how close it was to finals for many teams. With the travel time taking four days off while trying to study is too much to ask for anybody. I am a one for education is top priority and sports is only recreation.
cheers,
Bret
Bret,Why in the hell does USAT want to move the date? Thanks.Ralph

Subject: [NECTC] A top priority voting for collegiate national championship next year (every team needs to put in a vote)USAT wants to move the date and for us to discuss this, we need to
know what everyone thinks. Here are some, but not limited to,
possibilities:
a) keep the same date
b) move the date to the other side of exams (i.e. mid May) to
give us more flexibility with locations
c) move the race to the early fall.
Before you vote think about a couple of things.
1. How does the timing fit with exams? (think about the whole team
with a priority on the undergrads).
2. Training through the winter time. For myself, last year the
National Championships was my first race of trying to train through a
winter. In the northeast this means training inside. I tried it but
burnt out and decided to make it a low priority race. The National
Championship and the Regional Championship should be our highest
priority races.
Please email me back at bret@... with your vote. The things to include are:
1. Your team.
2. How many members.
3. Around what date you would prefer and why. You can list multiple
dates but include priorities.
4. List negative dates (ie. dates that you do not want).
Give yourself some time to talk to your team and to think about it.
However, this is a priority so do not wait until your next meeting or
make the delay based on when it is convenient (such as the next time
you will see your teammates). Try to be aggressive on asking people.
The more opinions we have on this the better. We are not looking for
an opinion from each team member but we want the team's vote to be
based on all the individuals.
Please send me an email back stating that you received this email and
that you are taking action. The goal is to get all the responses back
by June 15.
Thank you for your time,
Bret Fortenberry
