Hi Everyone-

A quick way to find a list of all the CX races that currently have a USAC permit is to go to the main page on the NCNCA.org website. Mouseover "Riders", "Series", and select "USAC-Sanctioned Cyclocross Races"

That will take you to this page...

There are hundreds of us who will do anything to go out and race each weekend and do our small part to make racing competitive via our attendance HOWEVER, that's only half the show. Announcers are like our better half. They take all our individual winter training, team tactics, brilliant attacks and killer sprints and turn them into something a spectator can relate to. So, for 2012, there will be a Best Local Announcer Award. It will be broadcast on Facebook so if you want more information either read below or click here , like the page, throw your favorite announcers name in the hat, post pictures and video or your nomination (self nominations are perfectly acceptable), and at the end of the season, vote.

Cyclocross and Track announcers definitely qualify. However, Cyclocross nominations start NOW and end at the end of the 2012 road season. Track nominations start in 2012 and end at the end of road season. Sorry if this excludes anybody but we have to stop somewhere.

Thanks for participating,
Mary Maroon

Has anyone thought of offering child care at crits?

A portable fence or oversized tent, a bucket of toys, and a watchful eye would be a good way for some enterprising cyclist to pay their race expenses.

With racers paying $30-$40 to register, certainly an extra $10-15 per child per hour would not break the bank, and might enable some single or custodial parents to make the day happen.

I know that my little Zebrettes would be no tribble at all.

Wow, absolutely fantastic way to introduce CX to the public.

First off, what a fantastic venue for CX racing...... both for racers and spectators. Fantastic course layout, and with the SF Bay as a backdrop..... well, that's just extra special.

Second, what a great job by promoters, sponsors, volunteers, and racers.

Third, what brilliant footage. I have three boys at home (well, two sort of adopted....) ages 10 to 13. All three are into different things.... one's into riding in the dirt, one loves tricks on the bike, one couldn't care less about sports, and LOVES ROBOTICS!!!!

The Bay Area is truly awash in fantastic energy and creativity!!! Something for everybody!

Fantastic post.

Hey Folks,

For a cold and possibly rainy day, it was a great event.  We had eleven adults including one woman, eleven 10 -12 year olds, a 16 and an 18 year old.  The 10 – 12 year olds had a spill in turn 1 while grouping up for their first scratch race.  There were no tears, and they all got back up and they all restarted.

The timed events took quite a bit of mental time due to the cold, and the racer’s all had slower times than in summer.  Rich Rozzi really put on a show – even though he was caught off guard for the 200M TT start.  Rich rides in the Master’s class and was the only person in the 12 second range for the 200M TT and in the 30’s for the 500M TT.  Chris Cain also put on a great show.

Pictures will be available soon at http://www.focusoncycling.com and I’ll post other links when they come in from parents.

We started losing riders due to the cold towards the end, so the final points race was combined for both adult classes.  Below are only the TT times, if you want scratch or points results, please email me.  If I missed your tie, or if it does not look right, email me.  In December and January – if it does not rain – I’ll rework the events to keep the riders from having to sit too long between events.

Singlespeed Cyclocross World Championship Unveils New Details for 2011 Event

Schedule updates and new information available on event website ; Rally cry for
women to meet 100-field limit challenge for first-ever all-women's championship
event

San Francisco, CA – November 11, 2011 – Organizers for the 2011 Singlespeed
Cyclocross World Championships today announced new details for the three-day
event, being held in San Francisco on November 18-20. The schedule for events
during the championship weekend is now updated on the event website
(www.sscxwc2011.com),which provides additional information on timing and
logistics for all activities as well as an FAQ.

"We've got a full three days of activities mapped, planned and timed, in a
singlespeed cyclocross kind of way," said Murphy Mack, race co-promoter. "While
the men's championship field is sold out, we're still welcoming women to the
first-ever all-women's championship race with open arms, and yes, ladies, you
can race a singlespeed mountain bike. For all racers, if singlespeed isn't your
cup of tea and you still want in on the action, we have geared races on Sunday
as well. Also, don't forget to hit up our online store for cool schwag – you
don't want to wait until the race to commemorate your hella good time, because
when it's gone, it's gone."

Activities for the three-day affair are as follows:

1. Friday, November 18 – Ride, Kick-off Party and Registration Packet Pickup
The weekend's events kick-off on Friday, November 18, with a cyclocross ride in
the East Bay hills. Starting at 1:30pm, the ride starts and ends at Sheila Moon
Athletic Apparel headquarters in Emeryville (5900 Hollis St, Unit T-2) and will
split into two groups to accommodate hammerheads as well as flower-smellers. For
public transportation options and specific directions to the ride start, please
visit the SSCXWC blog post: http://bit.ly/sAP58W.

Beginning at 6:00pm on Friday, organizers are hosting the event kick-off party,
also at Sheila Moon Athletic Apparel headquarters, with gourmet taco bar,
NUUN-sponsored cocktail beverages and New Belgium beers on-tap. Entrance to the
kick-off party is free and is open to participants, volunteers, race affiliates
and their guests. Food tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door and can be
purchased through the SSCXWC store: http://www.sscxwc2011.com/store/.

Registration packet pick-up also begins at 6pm on Friday at Sheila Moon Athletic
Apparel headquarters and ends at 9:30pm. Racers who are unable to pick up their
registration information packets prior to 9:30pm on Friday evening will be able
to retrieve packets from Mojo Bicycle Café in San Francisco (639-A Divisadero
Street: http://g.co/maps/4c5a2) from 10:30pm to 1:00am, as well as on Saturday
from 8:30am to 5:00pm.

2. Saturday, November 19 – Qualifiers and Blow-out Party
Saturday, November 19, both men and women racers will be subjected to the SSCXWC
qualifying event, which will include a ride to some of San Francisco's most
notable landmarks and a series of Five Feats of Strength. Staging for the
qualifying event will begin at 8:30am at Mojo Bicycle Café (639-A Divisadero
Street, http://g.co/maps/4c5a2), where flights of riders will leave every 10
minutes. Start times for flights will be provided to riders via email prior to
Saturday, included in registration packets as well as published in a blog post
next week.

Saturday evening, SSCXWC 2011 organizers will host a no-holds barred pre-race
party, where remaining qualifying positions for Sunday's championship race will
be determined by a special Sixth Feat of Strength. The party is from 7:00pm to
11:00pm; announcements to reveal Sunday's qualifying racers and the Sixth Feat
of Strength will take place between 8:00-11:00pm. The party is located at Sports
Basement on Bryant Street (1590 Bryant Street:http://g.co/maps/ucyhz) and is
open to participants, volunteers, race affiliates and their guests.

3. Sunday, November 20 – Championship Races and Send-off Party
Championship activities culminate on Sunday, November 20, with racing in the
Metson Lake area of Golden Gate Park (http://g.co/maps/gqj8w) starting at
9:00am. With the start/finish line located on Middle Drive, racers will battle
it out to determine which man and which woman will be crowned the next
Singlespeed Cyclocross World Champion. An updated schedule of races for Sunday
can be found online at http://www.sscxwc2011.com/race-info/.

Following Sunday's races, participants and spectators alike will be heading to
Buckshot Bar (3848 Geary Street: http://g.co/maps/evtps) to try their hand at
skeeball, Buck Hunter or pool and to graze on chicken-fried bacon while snapping
pictures in the photo booth. Buckshot Bar is an easy 10-minute bike ride from
Golden Gate Park; bicycle racers and participants will be treated to a bike
valet watching over their wheels while they are inside reliving the weekend's
shenanigans.

Hi Ted,

Thanks a lot for your email and for the mail you have sent to your contacts.

We hope you have enjoyed your week off in the nice National Parks you have around here.

From our side, everything is going well, we are now in Mammoth Lakes with the snow but had a great time crossing the Death Valley and at least it was not too warm!

Our plans are as following until Los Angeles:
Today to Nov 15th: going to South Lake Tahoe
Nov 15th to 18th: Lake Tahoe to Sacramento using the 50 then taking the trail along the american river
Nov 18th to 21st: Sacramento to San Francisco passing by Napa and Sonoma
Nov 21st to 24th: Break in SF where we have booked a small motel (Marina Inn)
Nov 24th to 26th: SF to Monterey
Nov 27th to 29th: Monterey to Morro Bay passing by the Hearst Castle.
Nov 30th: Break in Morro Bay to do some kayak (this is my 30th birthday!)
Dec 1st to 3rd: Morro Bay to Santa Barbara
Dec 4th & 5th: Santa Barbara to Los Angeles

In case you have some tips for things to do along the road, would be great and if you have some contacts along the Pacific Coast, would be nice to meet other cyclists there.

Thanks for your help, it was great chatting with you in Bryce. If you are around here and available when we are in SF, we can also plan to meet there once for lunch/dinner or just a drink.

Regards,

Emilien & Xinhan

If you were there, you know how awesome the experience was. A Go-Pro stair run
up, food vendors, otstanding PA and officiating crew. Most most impressive was
the racing under ights and in front of many fans. Thank you Tom Simpson, and all
your crew, for putting together this marvelous venue.

Hey Folks,

Saturday December 3, 2011 and January 7, 2012 we are on for track racing at the Hellyer county Park Velodrome.  The November race was kind of cold, and people started leaving early.  There will not be 500TT or Kilo in December or January – they take too long.  The rest of the 2012 schedule will be published late January 2012 – there will be a February race date TBD.

When: Signups and practice Noon to 1:00 PM.  Racing at 1:00 PM.

How Much: $15 for adults, juniors free

Awards: Not sure this time – I did not order them yet.

Rollout: No Rollout for December or January for 10 – 14.

Sponsor: Call Gage at Northcalwater.com, 510-305-2600

- Water softeners and Tankless Water heaters.  Free Estimates.  Licensed, bonded and Insured.

- If you have hard water spots in your home, a water softener will stop water spots. Your dishes will wash cleaner with less soap, and your clothes will look better and last longer – your soap will actually foam.  A working water softener will also make your water heater last for decades and it will eventually fail of old age, not because it is full of rock hard calcium.
