Description

WELCOME!

The phrase "heavyweight champ" carries a lot of weight the world of sports... especially in college wrestling.

Some of the all-time best amateur wrestlers can claim an NCAA heavyweight title, including Tolly Thompson, Kerry McCoy, Stephen Neal, Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle. Other big-name big men who won NCAA heavyweight titles over the years include Jess Lewis, Carlton Haselrig, Tab Thacker, Bruce Baumgartner, Lou Banach, Jimmy Jackson, Greg Wojciechowski, Chris Taylor, Curley Culp, Jim Nance, Joe James, Sherwyn Thorsen, Dale Lewis, Gene Nicks, Dick Hutton, Verne Gagne, Earl McCready... all giants of the 20th century mat world.

In this photo montage, you see some past champs. From left: Dick Hutton (NCAA champ 1947-48, '50), Kerry McCoy (1994 & '97), Lou Banach (1981 & '83), and Stephen Neal (left)(1998-99) vs Brock Lesnar (2000). Thanks to John Clarke for his work!

This Yahoo group is dedicated to honoring the very best of the big men who've won NCAA Division I heavyweight titles from 1928 to 2000. You'll find...

A FEW POSTING GUIDELINES
To make sure you and your fellow members have a great experience, please follow these rules of good sportsmanship:
1. No obscenity, vulgarity, threatening language or taunts.
2. No discussion of pro rasslin' or rasslers unless it is within the context of amateur wrestling, such as an NCAA champ who turned pro.
3. This is not an advertising forum. Posts plugging off-topic websites will be deleted, and offending members will be bounced from this group.
4. Be respectful of your fellow members. No slams or flames. Think: Would I say this to the person's face?

Enjoy!
