It's been a long summer. Our latest eNewsletter is now available in our
website's "News" section. It's a little late in coming out because we were
working on a new and exciting event.

During the last five years, many of you expressed an interest in attending an
international running and walking event. However, you didn't want to go alone.
We've been searching for a multi-race event, that's walker friendly, affordable,
and has some ties to a Black running club. Well, we found just the right event
for 2011. We're making the announcement now, so that we can start saving our
change, getting our passports, and making our plans. Get ready to party!!!!

During our 2009 Gathering at Cowtown, many of you met Lei Drummer and Donald
Arthur. Lei has been profiled in the eNewsletter. She completed her first ultra
at Cowtown. And Donald's story about having a heart transplant is both
inspirational and thought-provoking.

Also, our two $1,500 scholarship winners have been selected. Much to our
surprise, they both selected the same university. Thanks for your donations.

How would you feel about having a winter international marathon and a fall US
marathon in 2011? For example, the international event might be the Bermuda
Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K. It's held on MLK, Jr. weekend in January.

The Fall US event might be a New England marathon. If we're lucky, we may catch
the leaves changing colors.

Hi NBMA members, just checking to see if anyone will be in the half or
marathon Valentines weekend at Surfside Beach?  I'll be running the
half MY FIRST TIME!!  I do plan to meet up with you all at the Cowtown
as well only runniing 5K then.

my name is monica. i'm from los angeles,
and recently joined nbma. i
began running in 2000, training with a
local aids charity group for
the chicago marathon. i'm now a coach for
the organization and have
coached nearly 1000 participants to complete
their first marathon in
the last 8 years. i've run 10 marathons,
countless, halves, 10ks, 5ks,
with my 11th marathon included within my
ironman race at im brasil
'08. i'm currently training for my next
ironman in august at vineman
in the sonoma wine country of northern
cali (should be good and
hot!!!) while i'm more focused on triathlon
now, i still commit to
running at least 1 marathon a year. i can't make
it to cowtown, but i
plan to enter the lottery for the nyc marathon
when it opens in a few
weeks. if i don't get in, i'll stay local in the
southern cali area or
perhaps las vegas.

in nyc!!!

Hello my name is Fred and I am new runner.  I have run in 7 full
marathons and 3 half marathons.  I live in Chicago and on Saturday
mornings in the summer/fall I run on the lakefront.

I will not be able to make it to Cowtown but I hope to eventually meet
some member (locally at least).

through a relative that has dedicated herself to run a half marathon in
April in the Go St. Louis! I have not ran in years since college but in
2009 I wanted to set a good fitness goal that I would enjoy. So I told
my relative/friend that I would support her in her running endeavor by
running the 5k at in the GO St. Louis. This is my 1st race! Training
for this race is just like old times and I am really enjoying it.
Knowing that I am going to registering for the race has really kept me
dedicated. I hope to meet some new friends along the way. I hope that I
can attend the race in TX this year I think that it will be a great
event! Oh, Yes I am originally from St. Louis!

Hi Nancy, I run my long runs on usually on Saturday's too. Maybe we
can meet up sometimes. NO I run alone or with my daughter(I start
with her, she usually leaves me in the dust) lol.
