I think you're probably right on all accounts.
It seems like a lot of calls will favor the big time
players, like Shaq and Kobe, because they're big money
makers for the NBA and draw an audience. And Karl
Malone will definitely get the benefit of the call
when he plays on his homecourt. He never would have
gotten away with that elbow to Brian Grant last year
if they had been in the Rose Garden (and if I would
have been there! Grrrrr!).
I know that Rasheed is likely to be T'd up faster than
he can open his mouth to argue. He's got the most
technical fouls in the league and at least 20 more
than the guy in second place! He's a hot headed young
man with a bummer reputation that gets him quick
fouls. Since he hasn't stopped "going at the ref's
with logic", as he put it, they aren't going to give
him the benefit of the doubt.
What the heck...I think it just shows he's passionate
about basketball. He embraces his bad boy image, so
give him a T a game for all I care! The way he was
stuffing the ball down Malone's throat tonight, it
obviously doesn't effect his game!
Here's to Sweeping the Spazz...er, Jazz!
