need advice on sight picture for mini .22lr 1 1/8 barrel   Message List

hi....i am new to the group.

it doesnt look like there is a LOT of traffic here but i cannot seem
to find a busier group to ask questions of.

i have to say that the NAA mini is probably the most talked about gun
that no one is ever specific about.

i own a dozen guns (yes i call them guns...not weapons...no use giving
the whackos ANY more ammunition) of different makes, different
calibers, some rifles, some pistols. at all the message boards for the
different brands you always see the NAA mini enter the conversation.

holy cow......either it is the most widely owned handgun in north
america OR the lovers and haters of it sure do make the rounds on the
internet message boards.

now to my question......

does anyone know of a "definite" sight picture that works if one is
able to master it?

i find the mini in 22lr with a 1 1/8 shoots ridiculously low if you
attempt to shoot it like larger guns that have rudimentary sights like
a taurus .38 ultralight.

i burned through a whole baggie full (around 150)at the range
yesterday shooting at seven yards. i found myself trying to make sight
triagles with various spots on the small topstrap for reference.

i know some folk will say.....blah,blah blah.....it is just a belly
or an eyesocket gun....but i am not talking about how EFFECTIVE it
is....i wanna get the bullets going in the direction i want.

me and my pal made a zip gun we brought to scout camp when i was
fifteen (yeah yeah...i know)and we could hit cans quite easily at
fifteen or twenty feet. although the barrel was like four or five
inches long so that may have made the difference.

i am POSITIVE that NAA makes a revolver that is ALMOST a swiss watch
as it is and at the price. i will grant you that at 1 1/8" the barrel
is 50% shorter than the shortest barrel i have ever see or shot.

so? who has the info? i am sure that others before me have tried and
succeeded at getting this gun figured out. i can hit steel plates at
25 yds. with ALL my other pistols (even once or twice per mag with my
ruger LCP which i have only had for 2 months and five trips to the
range)so i know it is not ALL me and my bad shooting habits.

i DID read somehwere about a "punch" technique where you fire as you
come to the end of a thrown punch. holy cow! doesnt work!(not for me)i
tried 5 shots that way but couldnt even see the telltale puffs of dirt
from the backstop and i dont like not knowing the general direction my
shots are going so i quit it fast.

i look forward to hearing some constructive tips
