Sounds like a great buy , I shoot a flint .40 Hatfield and it likes 45 grains of
fff with a .440 ball and a 15-17 patch ! Good shooting .

Subject: [Muzzleloaders] Loads for Pedersoli Kentucky .45 flint rifle??

I just picked up a Pedersoli Kentucky flint .45 at my local gun shop, used,
well, they sold it as used, looks like it was never fired to me and it's in
excellent condition ... anyway I've searched the net for ball diam. and powder
loads for this and have come up empty handed ... sort of that is ... Pedersoli
recommends 40 grains powder, a .445 ball with a .10 patch. I have loads of .15
patches I use with my Hawken and I'd like to use them in this rifle, anyone know
what the right size ball would be for a .15 patch? Also 40 grains of powder
seems low, my .50 Hawken uses 90 ... anyone have any experience with the
Pedersoli Kentucky rifle? I could not find a user manual on line either ...
Pedersoli does not offer them as downloads ... anyone have a PDF version to go
with my new gun??

I wasn't actually looking for anything when I stopped in to the shop ... but
they had this Pedersoli in the "bargain" rack for $160.00 and could not pass it
up ... sometimes you get lucky ...

Thanks ...

Drifter

Try a .440 ball with that patch, I think you'll find 40grs 3f Goex or Swiss enough, just shoot it some and see how you like it. Don't try the fake powders in...
