I have a CVA HAWKIN in whitch the cap goes off about half the time. I
replaced the nipple but no help. Can the hammer spring be weak. I
should add the hammer does not impact the cap squarely. Any ides out

The hammer might be bent. I would replace it if it is. Also, Have you tried backing the nipple out some. 1/4 to 1/2 turn. ... ...

You can bend the hammer carefully in a padded vise with a hammer. DO NOT unscrew the nipple to shoot. It can strip the threads and be just as lethal as the...

It sounds like your "Hawkin" might have a drum and nipple instead of a patent breach. Often the drums are not screwed in quite enough to allow the nipple to...

how is the line up of the nipple to the cup on the hammer? could be a drum issue where either tightening it further into alignment or backing out to align. If...

Hi, I have a CVA Hawkens that did the same exact thing. One problem I had was the hammer was manufactured wrong with too much offset and did not strike the cap...

Good reply, Jon! Backing out the nipple may very well 'solve' the misfire. If it works, wouldn't be hard at all to silver-solder a spacer washer to shim the...

But remeber the one reply. If spacing is the issue be sure to solder it first for safety. Test fire before hand with a gun vice and string. ... ...

Before trying any of the bending, cursing and hair ripping stuff I suggest you first may want to try a larger size cap. jim7115 <jim7115@...> wrote:...

I had a similar issue with an early CVA Hawken that was remedied by an Uncle Mike's "Hot Shot" nipple. They do tend to get bashed around some as you shoot and...
