If you are interested in statewide multisport rankings (duathlon/triathlon),
I need you to email me to make sure you are listed as a Louisiana resident
who raced consistently in the top five of age groups in more than three
Louisiana events. Email me or Ben Hawn (b.w.hawn@...) to help
us make sure you are correctly ranked and in the right age group. When in
doubt ask. We know there are a share of folks who do not do email, and I hope
you will help us communicate to non-emailers that the ranking process is going
on for those who live in Louisiana and race for rankings in Louisiana.
It would be really helpful if multisport event directors included folks' hometowns next to names
in event listings so we could make sure our list of multisport rankings only include
Louisiana racers participating in Louisiana events. Help us out pretty please.
Last weekend's rains and winds complicated lots of events. The Gumbo Festival Mississippi River Bridge Run has been rescheduled for Oct. 24, same place, same time, and the cycling racing called the Rocktoberfest in New Orleans was also rescheduled for Oct. 24.
But the weather should be good for the Lance Armstrong Foundation's Ride for the Roses in Austin, TX. Hope everyone pedaling over there has a great trip. I hear there's a little triathlon this weekend in Acadiana. Is it a ULL program on campus? Share the details....
Any Louisiana reports on the Chicago Marathon held last weekend? Everyone
set for the Halloween Duathlon in Monroe? Check out the attachment.
Any new event dates decided on for 2005? The calendar is shaping up fast....
Club South Runners is putting on its Ocktoberfest three miler at the Mockler
Beverages complex in Baton Rouge, just off Interstate 10 at 11811 Reiger
Road. The date of the event is Oct. 16 and the race begins at 6 p.m. Go to

Cajun Country Half Marathon Set Dec. 4
From Rusty Bex
The third annual Cajun Country Half Marathon is set for Dec. 4 at Acadiana
Park in Lafayette. Sign up online at active.com or by going to
www.lafayettefitness.org and clicking on the Cajun Country Half Marathon
icon on the left side of the website.
Please sign up early as we have a field limit of 300. It should be another
great race: Kevin Castille will be back to defend his title and attempt to
break his own course record. We have easier access to race site since the
Louisiana Avenue extension to I-10 is now open. The same great course -
with a little cross country mixed in and of course that good old Cajun food,
gumbo, jambalaya, etc. will be available again. Thanks, from Run-Tri Sports.

BREC Sets Bike Ride for BR Officials to Show How Northshore Trails Work
BREC has scheduled a bike ride of the St. Tammany Trace, a tactic to educate
locals about trails ahead of the November tax election in East Baton Rouge
Parish.
In its strategic plan, residents of Baton Rouge told BREC they wanted bike

2 from La. Up for USA Triathlon Regional Posts
Sam Houston Jones, II of Lake Charles and Irby Della of Mandeville announced that
they are running for board positions on the USA Triathlon regional board.
USA Triathlon members may vote for both of them. Below is a note from Della
and Jones will offer a campaign pitch in the coming week.
From Della Irby
della_irby@...
I have added my name to the 2004 USA Triathlon regional board elections.
According to our current state representative Robert Sigerson, we need to
get some local people involved. We currently have two people on the board
but will not be up for the re-election cycle for one more year. There are
six board positions what will be open for candidates to submit their intent.
I am stepping up for this task. I have time to take on this commitment
since I am not working full time.
Please vote for me. Also, pass this email to the state tri clubs, local race
directors and any USAT/SMW member you know. We need to get our votes in.
You will get information on how to vote in the future. If you have any
questions, please feel free to contact me.

Meat Pie Triathlon in Natchitoches Set for Regional Club Championship in '05
From Elizabeth Cassano
As race director of Meat Pie Triathlon in Natchitoches, I am excited to
announce that our event in 2005 and 2006 have been designated as a regional
club championship race for this region.
My husband Don and I are looking forward to incorporating several changes to
next year's event with hopes of making Meat Pie Tri even better.
This designation is due in large part to the efforts of Louisiana triathlete
representation on the regional board. Please encourage your clubs, contacts
and tri friends to cast their vote for the Louisiana guys/ladies running for
a seat on the regional board in the upcoming January election. Thanks to all
of you for supporting our efforts in making Meat Pie a success. You guys are
the reason we tri and you guys are the reason we succeed! THANK YOU.
