"Here's your test to see if your mission on earth is finished: if you're alive, it isn't." Richard Bach
Is there anyone in Baton Rouge or the vicnity who can pick up something for me to bring to the GatorMan Triathlon in Lake Charles. Call me pretty please if you can help.

The Holy Grill 5km is set for Baton Rouge on Saturday morning, Oct. 2, in Baton Rouge. Check lawired.com via the Club South Runner's web site for details.

Parrot Head Ride Set for St. Francisville
From Kathy Duplantis, KFDuplantis@...
The Loyal Order of DisOrder Parrot Head Club of Baton Rouge will be hosting the 9th Annual Bike Ride for the Environment on Sat., Oct. 2, 2004.

The route starts and ends at Mary Ann Brown Nature Preserve (across from The Bluffs). Pre-register ($15) by downloading the Bike Ride form at www.brphc.org or register the day of the 9 a.m. ride ($18) starting at 7:30 a.m. The registration form includes directions or call 225/931-4054.

Registration includes a goody bag, T-shirt, refreshment stops, lunch, drinks and door prizes. Proceeds benefit the Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center and the Nature Conservancy of Louisiana.

This is a 19- or 27-mile route, not a race. It's a nice ride for charity!

Product Recalls on Performance Bike Equipment Noted
It's not been a good week for three cycling companies:
---Carbon fiber handlebar models sold by Performance
and Supergo (owned by Performance) have been recalled.

Performance's Forte Flyte OS and Supergo's Weyless
CF200 drop bars can develop cracks that may not be
visible. One of the bars broke. About 300 handlebars
are involved in the recall. Both models have the natural
carbon dark-gray look.

Those using these bars, stop. Call for refund or
replacement info. Performance, 800/553-8324. Supergo,
800/398-9702.

---Wheel quick releases called "Scatto" and made by
FSA (Full Speed Ahead) are being recalled because a
part in the lever can break. About 1,375 sets are involved.
Twelve have broken. The levers are laser etched with "FSA"
and the end pieces are round.

These levers were sold between Oct. 2003 and Sept. 2004
for $49.95 per set. FSA is offering free replacements to
owners who call 877/743-3372.

---Specialized road bikes are being recalled because the
handlebars can slip in the stems. There have been two
reports of this happening among the 1,500 affected bikes:
2005 Allez Sport, Allez Elite, Roubaix and Sequoia.

The problem bikes were sold in July and August of this
year. If you own one, contact the shop where you bought
it or call Specialized at 800/432-4144.

Total gym set up for sale. To get an idea of the set, check out http://www.aboutfitnessequipment.com/total-gym-11000-home-gym.html and for a user's comparison between the Total Gym 11000 and Bowflex, check out http://www.bigobb.com/tgvbf.htm.

Finally, I'm lowering my asking price to $1,000 o.b.o. I paid $1,570 for it new, and I really want to regain some space.  If you want to see some pics, email me.

++++++++++

That's it for now. Bless God America.

The scenic course along the shore of Lake Pontchartrain makes for a great spectator event.
