Hey, all of you competitive multisporters out there interested in statewide rankings, take note. If you as a Louisiana resident were regularly in the top five finishers of your age group in three or more duathlons or triathlons raced in the state, Ben Hawn and I need to hear from you as we check and double check our results of the emerging Louisiana Multisport Report annual rankings that will printed and U.S. mailed during the first of 2005. Email me or Ben Hawn at <b.w.hawn@....> By the way, if you've changed addresses and still want the printed edition mailed to you, direct changes to me.
Reports were great on the Natchitoches Meat Pie Triathlon, although John Deshotel of Acadiana said top runners took a wrong turn to spice up an already very competitive race. Sadly, there were not enough volunteers on the course to keep racers on track. Which reminds me to ask: have you helped out in a race this year? If you've raced two or more races, you really need to pick at event you can pitch in and offer aid. I hear the age group national competition in the Shreveport area saw some great competition, too. Two weekends in a row with multiple multisport events in the state is just amazing to me. There are lots of folks doing triathlons, duathlons, adventure racers than I can recall in the history of the sport in the state.
What another sad time when American Olympic gold medal time trial cyclist Tyler Hamilton tested positive for doping in the allegedly in the Athens Olympics and in the Tour of Spain. It was the lead story on ESPN radio early on Tuesday. Hamilton insists he's innocent; we all hope so. LSU Cross Country Meet Open to Public for Racing at Highland Road Park Near I-10 in BR
From Andrew Lilly
In recent years, this is the first time officially opened this one up for an open/masters crowd. It's only three miles, so it's a lesser-version of what the colleges will run, but it's still fun and it's on the same course that the high school kids from around here have to compete on. Any of you off-road types will like this, but remember -- this is cross country...the object is to go fast and beat people, there aren't hula hoop stops or mud crawls. It's a great opportunity to get out there and see how tough the local kids are and see some of our former high school athletes who have been out at CSR Hump Day 2 Milers and Catch 22 in action at the LSU Invite, where the guys will run 8km (5miles) and the girls will run 6km.

Pro Cyclist Hamilton: "I am 100 Percent Innocent" of Doping Charges
From Velonews.com
From Velonews.com
Phonak’s Tyler Hamilton, who won the Olympic time trial gold medal last month, said he was totally innocent of the charge of blood doping after it was revealed on Tuesday he had become the first athlete to test positive for it. The 33-year-old faces a two year ban after testing positive after winning the Tour of Spain's eighth stage time trial on Sept. 11 and he pulled out of the Tour six days later apparently due to stomach problems.
