"Don't sit down and wait for opportunities to come, you have to get and make
them." Madame C.J. Walker
I hope everyone is enduring the media anticipation of hurricane Ivan, which we all trust will not be terrible. I've never seen motor traffic reaction to storm preparation like I've seen these last couple of days. Getting around by car in Baton Rouge is crazy and I can't imagine what it must be like in the greater New Orleans and northshore areas. Such anticipation is the toughest part of preparing for a storm. Hang in there!
Wow, three triathlons in south Louisiana in one weekend. Who would've ever
thought the Bayou State ever would have enough multisport event
interest to stage three events at three venues across Louisiana? Congrats to
all those who did the Girl Power Tri, the Sugar Bowl Tri and the CajunMan
Tri in Lafayette.

Has the PelicanMan Duathlon happened yet in St. Bernard Parish? Anyone got any more 2005 fitness event dates to include in the growing Louisiana Multisport Report calendar listing for the printed publication?
By the way, I am pretty open to including just about anything in this enewsletter pertaining to the Louisiana's fitness world. I include what I'm sent for the most part. If you're promoting a fitness event, send it along. If I don't get it to me by Wednesday morning, it may not get included. I only send these postings once a week, though. So if you miss the weekly circular, you'll have to wait a week. I just don't want to swamp folks with emails; otherwise, I folks grow weary of too much news. Don't forget, you can always check multisportreport.com for issues if you don't get one directly or want to check back issues.
I did the CajunMan Tri and the competition was impressively deep! Race director Rusty
Bex and his dedicated crew of Cajun volunteers did another good job in staging a
most excellent triathlon in Lafayette. By the way, check out CajunMan photos
at karenthibodeaux@.... Bex is already busy working on his next
fitness event: the third Cajun Country Half Marathon set for Dec. 4 at 7:30
a.m at Acadiana Park in Lafayette. Check race results via lafayettefitness.org.
Baton Rouge triathlete Gloria Wall was at the CajunMan as a spectator and was recovering from doing
the Girl Power Triathlon. She said there was a great turnout and most
interestingly a good share of newcomers involved in the race that featured a pool swim. Multisporters are now
getting ready for the MeatPie Triathlon in Natchitoches next weekend. Sure hope the hurricane stuff doesn't hurt this and other fitness events this weekend! Get details at meatpiefestival.com/triathlon.htm.

The LSU cross country team is inviting the public to run in one of its
events on Sept. 25 at 8 a.m. at Highland Road Park near the intersection of
Interstate 10 and Highland Road in the capital city area.
The Tour de Donzaroo on Labor Day weekend was a smashing success for fitness folks on the Northshore to continue helping Donnie Jarrell in his fight with Lou Gehrig's disease. Congratulations and thank you are due Captain Ben
Hewett for an excellent job in putting the event together a second year and
by managing to tie the event to the MS Tour training. Thanks to all the
volunteers who volunteered their time and energy out there to ensure that
everything went smoothly. Last, but by no means least, thank you to all
those who participated in the event! Also, there was a nice article this week in the Times Picayune newspaper on Jarrell. Check out http://www.nola.com/sports/t-p/index.ssf?/base/sports-12/1095226016121450.xml.
While there will not be a Baton Rouge Corporate Cup 5km run, there will be a
25th one in New Orleans on Dec. 5. Check the details at
