Congratulations to all the Louisiana triathletes who did the Vineman Triathlon in northern California and to those who did the River Cities Triathlon in northwest Louisiana. Well done. Was there any wine taken along the race in California?

BR-Based Spectrum Fitness Club Make Top National Fitness Club List
From Casie Alexander
casie@...
225/769-8000
Baton Rouge-based Spectrum Fitness Clubs became one of three Louisiana
health club facilities listed in Club Industry's annual top 100 list. The
list serves as 'a benchmark' to the country's largest health clubs and
chains. Its accuracy depends on industry estimates and participation from
the health club facilities.
"We are pleased to be recognized in the fitness industry. It's a major
accomplishment for our staff and our members," says Troy Archer, general
manager. "In the past four years, we have grown from three clubs to seven
clubs, two of those clubs are licensed clubs," Archer adds, "We've had some
growing pains, but low turnover and member loyalty have ensured our vision
for growth."
As a member of the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association
(IHRSA) and various other trade organizations, Spectrum Fitness Club's staff
attends several trade shows, consulting seminars and certification classes
each year. "In this industry we have to continue to educate ourselves
through training and certifications to increase our knowledge and growth
potential," says Archer.
Spectrum Fitness Clubs operates five multifunctional facilities and manages
2 licensed facilities. Two of the clubs are ladies-only fitness centers. The
clubs vary in size from 8,000 square feet to 60,000 square feet.
Club Industry's Top 100 list includes local health clubs (82nd) Franco's
Athletic Club in Mandeville and (54th) Elmwood Fitness Center in New
Orleans.

Incredible Ride Set in Conjunction wiht Hotter 'n' Hell 100 Ride in Texas
Some super endurance cyclists have brewed up the ultimate road bike nightmare -- the "To Hell and Back 400". Join a few of his twisted riding companions for the Toughest Road Bike Event ever staged in Oklahoma. We'll leave Oklahoma City on Friday Aug. 27th and ride 150 miles down to Wichita Falls, TX, then we'll get up Saturday Aug. 28th and ride 100 miles in the "Hotter 'n' Hell 100", and then Sunday Aug. 29th we'll ride 150 miles back to Oklahoma City, OK to complete 400 miles of riding.
Now this won't be some "Girlie Mans" ride where we stop every 10 miles for rest and bon bons. No we'll have our sag wag waiting for us every 30 miles with whatever treats we supplied her with. This is also not a no-drop ride, if you can't hang at a 17-20 mph pace then stay at home. This is not a ride for the faint at heart, or the weak of legs ... this is an epic ride to test the people who think of a 100 miler as a good training ride.
1. Web Page www.havingfuninc.com/HH%20400%20Road%20Ride.htm
2. No entry fee, just bring everything you need or think you may need and we'll provide the support vehicle to transport it in.
