"One of the most obvious facts about grown ups to a child is that they have
forgotten what it is like to be a child." Randall Jarell
Stewart Buck of Baton Rouge reports that the correct date for the BREC Youth
Triathlon set for north Baton Rouge is June 12. The date first posted was
June 6, but that is a week day and is the first CSR Summer Track Series at
Catholic High in Baton Rouge.
Brett Faulk of Lafayette says the LaMBRA cycling racing points are finally up
to date. Check http://www.lambra.org/

It was great seeing long-time runner Jim Wansley in Baton Rouge recently. He is a past president of Baton Rouge's Club South Runners who now lives in Knoxville and is a professor at the University of Tennessee. He was in town to teach at a banking school. He continues to run and indeed looks and actually sounds very fit.
Mark you calendar's for the Brighton Bank Grand Prix on June 5-6. It will

Jenn followed that up with a ninth place in the road race that also saw
Shreveporter Lindsay Gosslee (University of Alabama) finish in 33rd place in a
61-rider field. The fifth and ninth places were good enough to garner
Jennifer the points to come in second in the omnium. Wangerin won three of four
primes in the criterium and the crit itself, along with an eighth place in
the road race to comfortably win the overall individual championship.

Report on Off-Road Cycling Spillway Scramble
From Bob Hodges
NOMAMBO (New Orleans Area Mountain Bike Organization) hosted its first Spillway Scramble recently and it was a success. Forty three racers showed up to race on the 5-mile course in the Bonnet Carré Spillway in Norco.
Here are some results. There were 3 Expert class racers. Brandon Morvant of NOBC won the 25-mile race by almost four minutes and seemed in control most of the time and 15 Sport racers. The top five racers all finished within two minutes of each other in the 20 mile race won by Brian Smith. The Beginner class was the largest at 21 entries to do a 10-mile race which was won by Brooks Branham. There were five women racing in the event. Lena Yarbrough won the Sport class and Mary Boyer won the Beginner class.
Thanks to Stu Babin and his volunteers for putting together a great first time event. They plan to have another race this fall. I encourage you all to consider participating. BRAMBA (Baton Rouge Area Mountain Bike Association) is also planning to have two fall events so there should plenty of racing to look forward to locally.
