"The influence which is most truly valuable is that of mind over mind."
Lydia Howard Sigourney
Triathletes are coming out of the wood work as early-season events bring out lots and lots of new faces to races. The Abitaman Tri and Governor's Triathlon just held in Lake Charles brought out large numbers of beginners. The Holy Toledo Triathlon was just right in humbling a few veterans who learned that you don't have to go out of state for a very very tough race on very challenging terrain in challenging and choppy waters at a beautiful resort.
But there is still plenty of room to register for the April 24 Louisiana Triathlon in New Roads. Folks can sign up on active.com or print out applications via lawired.com, where folks can learn all they want and more about the 11th annual event in Pointe Coupée Parish. This year's race ends at the Scott Civic Center or what many locals call the rec center. It will be the first time the final run leg of the triathlon is a point-to-point race. I so appreciate the BRTri group doing so much to help this year, but I sure could use some more volunteers.
With all the energized activity in competitive fitness circles, the internet has been buzzing with information about all kinds of runs, triathlons, duathlons, bike races, bike rides, etc. I've gotten a share of emails looking for information on this enewsletter, wondering why results weren't posted, asking why dates weren't listed and the like.

So since there are apparently a share of newcomers reading this note, let me make a few housekeeping notes on this enewsletter: first, I try to email the note out Wednesdays or Thursdays of every week. If you've got something to
include, I need it by Monday or Tuesday. If you want publicity for an event or an accomplishment, send it. I forward what I get from whomever out in cyber land. I typically focus on Louisiana, but every now and then I'll
focus on some out of region notes. I'm just an editor of sorts; I don't attempt to be comprehensive in my report about each and every event everywhere.
Lots of times I write what's on my mind; I don't look at every web site
everywhere to see what events are going on wherever. If your event is
neglected, it's just because you didn't remind me and I didn't remember it
was happening. I am not trying to discriminate against any region of the
state or any group putting on fitness folks. My plain and simple goal is to
let folks connected to the internet know about competitive fitness events
happening across Louisiana.
By the way, I'm doing this 'cause I enjoy it. No one's footing a
payroll here. So if I screw something up, don't get your panties in a wad. I
will correct errors as I learn about them. I truly don't seek to offend; I
do confess, however, that I do like to stir up good, fun competition
sometimes.
This is not an enewsletter just for multisports, or just for competitive cycling, swimming or running or whatever; it's an enewsletter about fitness events of whatever and wherever, especially in Louisiana. It's a forum to praise Louisiana athletes and recognize your efforts as a Louisiana resident or Louisiana expatriot. You can check out past editions via multisportreport.com.
Don't forget about the Ruston X-Terra Tri.

large contingent of new multisporters. Sam Houston Jones of Lake Charles

Is Louisiana Becoming Multisport Capital?
From Laurence Cohen
As I looked at this year's multisport schedule, a strange thought occurred.
Could Louisiana be the multisport capital of the country ? I would argue
yes. This year, our state is sponsoring the following National Championship
events -- Sprint Tri , Olympic Tri, Off Road Triathlon and the USARA Sprint
Adventure Racing Championships. WOW !
What other state can boast four National Multisport events , three of which
will happen within a months time. Plus our own Bill Burke of Metairie is
director for two Olympic triathlon qualifiers. The trilife is good here in
Louisiana.
