"Love is letting-be." John Macquarrie
"Love is letting-be." John Macquarrie
I have a correction from last weeks enewsletter: John Deshotel won the Du Donnie Du multisport event in St. Tammany Parish, despite what was described as an incredible final sprint challenge. He was indeed challenged at the finish, but he held off the competition and won.
I hope everyone is ready for the bobozone.com feature this weekend with the Holy Toledo Triathlon staged at Toledo Bend Reservoir. It should be a classic event, tamale-eating categories and all. Pro triathlete Bobo Anderson, now a resident of Opelousas, is putting the event on, and has attracted quite a collection of his superstar racing circle of friends to the challenging hills of west-central Louisiana.

John Thompson, a native of Thibodaux and current Metairie, resident is
running the Boston Marathon. Runner's World's latest edition had a great feature on the event coming up in Bean Town.
Bill Preau reports that as of 9 p.m. March 21 , 2004 the Abitaman Triathlon
#1 results are up via abitaman.com. Reports are that there was a large number of first-time triathletes participating in the event. The sport does continue to grow. Thanks to Bill Burke of Metairie for a fine job putting on the pool-swim triathlon. The next pool-swim triathlon is April 17 on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge.
Rusty Bex did a terrific job putting on the state championship duathlon last weekend in Opelousas. He even did the event as a relay with his wife. What a man! It was my first race in a long time and it felt great to do so with some intensity. Fighting injuries and aging is tough on the ego. When I looked up and realized I was ahead of Mike Abshire and Tim Daigle in the opening run, I knew I went out too fast. I felt like I was back in the old days. I settled down though, and did manage to beat old man Jerry Richard on the first run and hold him off on the bike until mile 8 or so. You realize why you race when you don't get to for periods of time. Let me strongly encourage those of you free from injuries to enjoy the intensity of racing hard. It was interesting to see all the Houstonians at the race. It's amazing what happens at a race when you call it a state championship.

Washington Parish Ride Set for CCC
From Bob Hodges
Hey weekend cyclists, I've got a ride for you. I’m looking forward to riding the Crescent City Cyclists Saturday ride since I have never ridden in that area and Salty Galvis of the Northshore has been pumping it up as a good ride. I got on my map program this morning to determine what is the shortest route to the ride start point from Covington.
I used the drive start point as the LA 21-US 190 split in Covington.
--Option 1 – Take Louisiana 25 through Folsom to Franklinton. Then take Louisiana 10 from Franklinton to Louisiana 62, turn left and head north to the community of Pine and the ride starts at the intersection of Louisiana 424. Total ride is 43 miles.
--Option 2 – Take Louisiana Highway 21 to Bogalusa. In Bogalusa, take a left on Louisiana 10 and follow it to Louisiana 62, turn right and head north to a community called Pine and the ride starts at the intersection of Louisiana 424. It's a total of 42.9 miles.
So it looks like it really doesn’t matter which way you go. I frequently go to Franklinton on business and it takes me 30 minutes from my house in Flower Estates. So I’d assume it will take another 15 minutes to Pine. It should be the same drive time if you take the Louisiana 21/Bogalusa route. I’d give yourself at least 45 minutes from Covington.
