"When a true genius appears in the world, you may know him by this sign, that the dunces are all in confederacy against him." Jonathan Swift
Mardi Gras Marathon details fill the cyber waves and fitness club conversations with information about the growing New Orleans 26.2-mile running event. Runners from all over the country are headed to the "Big Easy" for one of the state's best 26.2-mile running events. Chuck George of the New Orleans Track Club has enlisted his vast masses of volunteers and service support teams to make this year's event the best ever. Stay tuned for a Sunday full of reports on the race, the course, the winners, and the losers. The race expo center is lots of fun too. So whether you're running or watching, there's lots to do at the Mardi Gras Marathon. Get the details at runNOTC.org.
The first weekend in March is shaping up to be a busy fitness event weekend with Baton Rouge's Race for the Cure 5km on Saturday, the Camellia Run in Slidell on Saturday, the DuDonnieDu multisport event on Sunday in Mandeville and the famous 100-mile Rouge-Roubaix bike race in the Felicianas on Sunday as well. Take your pick; there will be plenty to do.
Remember, race-day registrations at the Baton Rouge Race for the Cure will not -- I repeat - not be scored.
April 24 Louisiana Triathlon entries continue to roll in with a number of out-of-state triathletes signing up to race. I don't recall seeing as many entries this early in the season. You can sign up on active.com or print out entry form from the web site via lawired.com. The new point-to-point run course being planned seems to be well liked by a share of triathletes who've noted the changes coming on that part of the course in New Roads.
