Kenny Dunaway's Multisport Report

Dec. 3, 2003
"A strong passion for any object will ensure success, for the desire of the
end will point out the means."
William Hazlitt

I hope everyone is ready for Rusty Bex's Acadiana Half Marathon in Lafayette this weekend and the approaching Club South Runners Half Ass Half Marathon in Baton Rouge. Of course there are lots of holiday 5km events going on with Christmas themes of all sorts being staged here there and everywhere across the state. Check out your local running club web sites, which I hope all you out there are helping support and maintain. These fitness club functions are thankless jobs and we've got lots of dedicated volunteers working bike clubs, running clubs, swim clubs, etc.

Below is a very early and very rough drafts of the year-end Louisiana triathlon rankings. Did I mention that the list below is a rough draft? Anyway, my partner Chuck Owen of Bossier City and I sure would appreciate your review and feedback. We're working hard not to miss anyone or any variable in rankings folks.Soon, we'll have early drafts of Louisiana duathlon rankings. I encourage multisporters to take a look at these early drafts to help make sure folks are listed in the right age group and to make sure that folks listed are indeed Louisiana residents. We're getting our list ready for our annual printed publication of the Louisiana Multisport Report, which will be distributed in early 2004.

As I mentioned last week, I continue to look for nominations for the Louisiana multisporter of the year (not just triathletes or duathletes -- but those involved in the whole competitive fitness arena). I got some good nominations, but sure would like to hear from some more folks out there.

I need folks to send at least 35 words -- and I welcome more -- about why a person (who must be a Louisiana resident) should be named this year's multisporter of the year. I am hoping to publish this information in the annual printed edition of the Louisiana Multisport Report. I'm not looking for triathlete, duathlete, cyclist, runner, swimmer, roller blader, adventure racer, etc. of the year -- I am looking for the all-around best multisporter of the year! Let me hear from you.

Also, if you have photos you care to share for this year's printed edition, I need them ASAP. Please email them to T2DesignsLA@... and copy me pretty please. For you advertisers, the space reservation deadline is fast approaching, so I hope you folks are finishing up your ads for the upcoming printed publication.

By the way, on-line registration via active.com is set and ready for the April 24, 2004 Louisiana Triathlon at New Roads. Take advantage of low, early-season entry fees by registering now.

NBC will be airing the Ironman Triathlon's 25th anniversary on Saturday, Dec. 6th, 4 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m.

Dec. 13 Set for Bike Race/Event Meeting; Ride Planned Before Meeting
From Josie Babin
Before the annual promoter's meeting on Saturday Dec. 13, there will be an
informal ride from the Inn on the Lake in St. Francisville. We'll launch at
8 a.m., cruise around the Woodville Loop, and be back at the Inn around noon
to hash out the 2004 bike race calendar and any bylaw changes that need to be
addressed. While the ride will be unsupported along the way, we will have
snacks and drinks available before and after the ride. I'll print up some
maps for those unfamiliar with the route.

So if you're in town for the meeting or just want to have a casual ride with
friends you normally race with, come out and enjoy a sunny (I hope) ride in
the Felicianas!

Preliminary List of 2003 Louisiana Top Triathletes Listed, Being Prepared
From Charles A. Owen
Very Rough Draft Very Rough Draft Very Rough Draft Very Rough Draft Very
Here is the first and very rough draft of Louisiana triathlete 2003 rankings we are organizing for the printed edition of the Louisiana Multisport Report. We would appreciate your review of this very rough draft and help us make sure that all these folks are listed accurately. Check our spelling and age group information. We are focused on Louisiana, so we want to make sure that those listed below are indeed residents of the great state of Louisiana. If we don't have a hometown for any of those listed below, we can't include those folks in the rankings. Heck they might be from Texas or Mississippi for heaven's sake. Of course, if you have an issue with how we ranked folks, let us know. We could have missed something or some race result somewhere that would make the difference in how folks got ranked. We share this in hopes
that our printed list is as accurate as possible.

New Year's Eve Party in Plans for Multisporters
From Russell Bourgeois
New Year's Eve at my house in the Central area of Baton Rouge will be one
big party. We will be having a party with lots of fireworks and food and
everyone is invited. If you would like to pitch in it is appreciated, but
not required.  The more people pitch in the brighter the night will be. Last
year we had a great time with enough fireworks to have three shows at 10
p.m., 11 p.m., and midnight. So, even if you have plans already you can
probably come earlier and still enjoy.  If you are going to pitch in please
respond by e-mail or call me at 225/241-2687 so I can add that amount to the
order. I get the fireworks at wholesale so a little goes a long way.

For Sale
I have a Trek 5200 54cm Carbon Fiber road bike for sale. I also have
a Johnny G. Pro Spinning bike.  email me for more info
